Food / Anyone Heard of this Polish Pastry? [6]
I'm assuming from the phonetic sound that you are talking about a cream cheese based dough cut in squares, filled with fruit, nut and/or cheese filling, with the dough folded from two opposing corners over the filling, after baking they may be dusted with powdered sugar. These are available in many bakeries, including large supermarket (Giant Eagle) bakeries in Greater Cleveland. We have a large Polish/Polish descent population. I'm just two generations from Ellis Island arrival & LOVE the Polish food I grew up on. Like most any good Polish food, kolatchky are labor intensive to make but you can 'gum drop' them down like potato chips. You should be able to find a recipe in any decent Polish cookbook or on line through a Google search.
