Study / Profi-Lingua anyone? [14]

Hmmm I find it had to imagine that Seanus was employed as someone who gave out leaflets in the street, which was what my "they don't do so bad" comment was about!

Study / Profi-Lingua anyone? [14]

How times have changed!

When I worked for Profi some 10 years ago things were much nicer. The management looked after the teachers. We were always paid on time. I don't remember any stupid contracts that had to be signed. However we did have to find a replacement teacher in the case of sickness, but it wasn't as if it had to be another native speaker so it wasn't really a big problem.

The school has grown a lot over the years with branches all over the country and I take my hat off to the management in that respect but I hear nothing but complaints from students and teachers that have any dealings with them nowadays. I should add that some of the complaints I hear from students are about the teachers and not only the school!

Regarding their leaflet distributors, who according to Seanus "get next to nothing for standing out in the cold all that time". They don't do so bad! And they don't have to do that job. Also in Gliwice and I guess many places in the country they are not the only school giving out leaflets, however it also gets on my wick as well.

Study / Looking for English Language schools in Katowice [48]

They had to give up their rooms and the ones that they were offered were not in a good place so they decided to close instead. New Dean and all that made it almost impossible to continue. To make matters worse the Uni didn't use the rooms for a year so the school could have continued anyway!

Love / CULTURAL DIFFERENCE/PROBLEMS IN MIXED POLISH-UK MARRIAGES [34]

I have a Polish wife, been married for 14 years have 2 kids and live in Gliwice, Poland. I am also English and I don't really speak Polish. I have never had any of the problems with in-laws that some people seem to be having here. My father in law speaks some English, upper inter level but my mother in law doesn't speak English at all. Not a problem for me!

My in-laws love our kids and want only what is best for them. I can't imagine them telling us how to bring them up and what languages we should talk to them in.

One interesting thing however was just before we got married my father in law asked me if I would allow my wife to take our "kids" to church. He knew that I didn't go. Once I assured him that it made no difference to me he was happy and it never came up again.

As for Welshguy, you make it sound as if you married the wicked witch of the east. I am sure she is not so bad otherwise you would have left her by now. Don't let her walk all over you!
