Life / First month in Warsaw, trying to combat homesickness! [9]

Ladystardust - thank you for offering to go for a drink, it would be great to meet you. I will be in contact tomorrow to arrange (via email).

Polanglik - I'm working over here, would be great to meet you too and I will be in contact nearer the time. Sounds like we'll have a few things in common - working in UK v Poland. Is there a way I can contact you other than using this website?

Maikel - haha, I'm too modest to write all about myself!

Life / First month in Warsaw, trying to combat homesickness! [9]

I'm in Warsaw for the next couple of years. I'm loving it really but you know it's early days and I'm trying to keep super busy. Would love to make some new mates - expats or Polish hopefully both - to go to the pub with and generally start feeling a bit more settled here...I'm not sure I fancy going to sit in a bar by myself!! Any really good clubs / organisations I can join? Any suggestions?

Work / Cost of Living and average Pay scale of IT in Warsaw [14]

[Moved from]: Cost of Living in Warsaw?

I'm thinking of moving to Warsaw. Anyone able to help me establish the cost of living in Warsaw compared to the UK? As it's the capital city are costs similar to London?

Any advice greatly appreciated :)

Life / Thinking of Moving to Warsaw...can you help, give advice? [9]

Hey just found this website...great for advice and I'm hoping you guys can help me out. I'm a single female thinking of signing a new contract to work in Warsaw for an international commercial property company. Any advice? :)

A few colleagues think should have chosen a more exciting country but I think they are just being ignorant. I've obviously visited Warsaw and so far think it's a great opportunity...however I need advice on accommodation/apartments within Warsaw, how much rent should I expect to pay? Where are the nice areas to live? Costs of living eg food, travel, etc? What fun things can I get up to? Is language going to be a huge barrier for me? Will my Polish workmates resent me moving to their country? I've been given some advice from my company but need to double check it is good advice. It's feeling like a very scarey move for me so if anyone has similar experiences then please let me know! Thanks a million:)
