News / I [] Poland - Gazeta Ads [8]

@Polonius3 - that's a really interesting history, and it makes me curious to learn more. Thanks for that.

I'll contact Gazeta, but I don't expect they'll be much help! Any other thoughts?

News / I [] Poland - Gazeta Ads [8]

I can't get enough of these - I think it's hilarious. They're the billboards all over Warsaw (and, presumably, everywhere else in Poland) that look like the I <3 NY t-shirt, but say I [block] PL.

Does anyone know where I can get a t-shirt of this?

Life / Prepaid Sim Cards in Poland [17]

I've done some research, and it seems that Tak Tak from Era is the best for me. I have a quad-band GSM Motorola RAZR and will get the prepaid SIM.

It's very tough for me to find out the details from any of these sites since I don't speak Polish and you can't translate text from the images on the site.

Can anyone tell me:

- With a prepaid Tak Tak SIM, can you get data service (i.e., e-mail on the phone)
- Is there a way to get the SIM sent to the US in advance? I have a couple of weeks before I move, and it would be nice to have it when I land. If you can't... is there an ERA store at WAW?

- What is the upfront cost of the SIM?

Any warnings before I find myself dependent on using ERA for the next six months? I'll mostly be in Warsaw, but I'll be travelling throughout Europe as well...

Thanks!

Study / Looking to learn Chinese in Warsaw [3]

Does anyone know of a place in Warsaw where I can learn Chinese? Ideally, I'd like an intensive course (i.e., hours every day for several months), but I'm open to other suggestions.

I'll be moving to Warsaw for six months starting in March, and I'm searching for something to do: a job, a business idea, some outreach work, English tutoring...anything, really. I'm very interested in learning a language, as this is something I've enjoyed in the past and something I know could be very useful in my life. I'm a US citizen with no work visa and (at the moment) no job in Poland. I don't speak Polish, though I'm college educated and would love to have something productive to do while I'm in Warsaw.

Any thoughts?
