Love / Do u girls really like to get poems from men or it's rather overrated? [71]

That's beautiful. The verdict is that your poem is so much better than the other one that someone else wrote.

thanks for a positive review :) Good to know there is a small probability that my chicken-scratch peoms would find some demand in the market out there :P

I'm not actually a major fan of it, but I’m ready to sacrifice myself for the sake of love.

Opera really IS a major sacrifice for a guy. The last time I was in opera was in Bratislava (Slowakia), tickets were like 15 polish zl for 1st class seat and it was a New Year's Eve Performance - now that's a good exchange rate!

Language / I'm really interested in learning Polish [33]

When I started learning English .. in order to practive the reading comprehension I used to read books for kids.. they have bigger font, easier vocabulary, I found them INTERESTING so I wouldn't get bored or dismotivated, you know, it kept me going ... this way I improved my reading skills and vocabulary. If you try it, and I hope you, read them loud, this helps you notice your own mistakes... I believe you can achieve same results with Polish language.

I'm so touched. I don't know how to read Polish. Can you translate?

here is my attempt to translate this, I'm afraid it lost some meaning but here you go shewolf :)

"We felt this warmth when we were hugging each other,
We did not know what anger is,
For so long we would look into each others' eyes,
I love you - I was saying to you then
It's been so much different since then ...
I miss you, I cannot easily forget!
My mind is drifting almost like among rough ocean's waves on the remains of my tiny raft!
And then I begin to believe that my hope will drown forever,
But I still fight, I dont give up, I catch a paddle in my hand ..."

You can try one that you've written first and then one that someone else has written and we'll see which one works better.

ok shewolf, let's try then. I am afraid however that some us will rate this one as "weak" as I'm not too good in this :) But what a heck, it's all virtual reality, Kaka won't be able to kick my ass for lack of skills no matter what hehe.

this one would be mine:

" Tak cieplo przytulalismy sie do siebie,
ze nikt nas nigdy nie widzial razem w gniewie,
Tak dlugo patrzylismy w oczy sobie,
Kocham Cie - mowilem wowczas Tobie,
zmienilo sie wiele ...
Tesknie, mysle, zapomniec nie moge latwo!
Plyne w myslach niczym wsrod fal wzburzonych roztrzaskana tratwa!
I juz mysle czasem ze moja nadzieja na zawsze zatonie,
ale jeszcze walcze, nie poddaje sie, chwytam jeszcze wiosla w dlonie... "

this one on the other hand I copied from the following website:
milosc.info/wierszyki/wierszyki-milosne-02-01.php

"Dla Ciebie moje usta, dla Ciebie moje ręce
I oczy dzięki Tobie widzące coraz więcej.

I apologize the english speakers, but my poetic creativity levels go down significantly when it comes to writing poems in English :(

are u trying to get advice for somone special?

Someone special? ... heh.. all girls are special you know :)
I was just referring to one of the recent posts (which has unfortunatelly been lost during the last server-backup among many other good posts) ... but I guess I am still the old-fashioned romantic one..

I am past poems, chocolate, and flowers.

Yea, I think I kind of know what you mean but not entirely. It's usually men who forget the imporance of the above not girls no matter what age :)

..would prefer a good c.d. to chocolates too

nice :)

Food / Napoleonki recipe, chrusciki [22]

the above recipe looks good but I would also add 1-2 tablespoons of vodka .. it gives the "Faworki" this extra crust they need :)

Language / Funny sayings on Polish weddings [14]

Those that have ever attended a Polish wedding probably remember some funny sayings everyone would just shout out-load during the party ...

I will start with an easy one: "Chluśniem bo uśniem" (let's drink so we dont fall asleep)

... any others?

Love / How to make good impression to his Polish parents? [19]

hard question ... best thing to do would be to ask your b/f what his parents like and dont like you know ... the comments above and him as a resource should give you failry nice idea. But most imporantly, don't torture yourself. His parents are just people like everyone else and should be just fine :)

Love / Polish Men and their attitude towards sex and relationships [60]

I agree, as Amathyst has just said, some people get married much quicker than others as they feel like the time is running fastet for them. I've noticed that for some of us who migrated to another countries of the so called "better western nations" the situaition is worse. They sill want a Polish girl, with Polish personality and Polish way of thinking. Even though they would still say outl-loud it doesn't matter: " I could be with a Canadian girld, American girl, and so on .." but in fact it does matter for them as once they get a girl they always wanted they rush for finalizing the relationship and aim for getting married faster then they would if they were still back in Poland. I would not call the desparate, but they are kind of more interested in fainding a soul-mate for life, they treat the partner more seriuos from day number one, rather than have fun and play around, definitely not interested in "one night stands" and so on.

Food / Vegetarian food in Poland? [83]

sorry .. but there was no such thing as a veggie diet back at home where the Polish mother took charge in cooking :) ... but I suppose that's slowly changing.

What's the point of switching to vegetarian food besides the hope for animal cruelty elimination anyway?

Love / Are Polish men generally possessive? [51]

"Polish men are able to show their feelings"
"Polish men are warmer and more loving"
...
it all sounded like we, polish men, come with a fairly nice package deal ... it's pretty nice to hear that we have such a good reputation among women out there :)
