History / German POWs after WW2 - did the allies commit mass murder? [228]

Come on man...you know what I meant.

Laziness to bother putting it on and carrying it around...it is not always comfortable to have to conceal it and have it there. People get complacent as the odds are you will never need it. Just like the safety belt...we get lazy about it if it hasn't become a habit.

Some people fear weapons...it is their issue not the gun's.

Denial that they would ever need it. But right..when they need it they will surely wish they had been more aware.

Why do most Americans not carry a gun with them at all times?

Many reasons,

Laziness, it's not always comfortable, fear of the weapon, denial....just like why a lot of people don't wear safety belts in cars or helmets on motorcycles. It is not mysterious.

I do read your posts man...I think you have the wrong idea about tools and weapons. You are trying to justify your disdain for guns by saying a knife is easier for you to survive. Not always true and still not to the point.

You are also talking about a specific situation. Most people are not armed to a higher level than their attackers NOR do they wear any protective gear.

I am saying being allowed to carry a gun for self defense helps to mitigate that disparity. Fights are not fair...and if you are in a fair one you have made a mistake.

If you can get rid of all bad guys I will agree we can put down guns for self defense.

All I said is that I know how to defend it.

Really? Have you ever been in a real world type force on force fight? Where someone came at you with a marking training knife full speed and you were able to consistently evade it?

I don't believe you. People get cut in knife fights. Even very highly trained people. It is not something a judo class or TV can show you.

Most people who THINK they can fight get a rude awakening when it happens for real. TV and bravado have ruined our minds in this arena.

Maybe Seanus is X-SAS

If he was he'd be the first to agree with me ;)

People who fight for a living are the one's who say knives are not something they want to face and that 'defending' against them empty handed is not a good odds proposition. They would much prefer to shoot them from a distance ;)

Most police in America have guns and are trained to shoot in deadly fashion, what a pathetic argument dude. They have superior skills most of the time. Their training includes defending against knife attacks and may favour this kind of fight rather than taking a bullet to the head. They have protective vests too.

So much wrong here. First MOST police only shoot once a year in qualification and at paper targets so that does not give them some inherent skill. Many citizens who carry guns attend much more training than the average cop.

You have no idea what you are talking about regarding knife fights. Yeah if the cop has a gun and is 10m away I am sure he would prefer the bad guy have only a knife. Even then it is still scary as that distance can be closed VERY fast. But all things being equal NOBODY wants to be in a knife fight.

Lastly ballistic vests do not defend against knives. They can go right through them. Prison guards wear special vests designed to defeat punctures and blades but not bullets.

You are not informed of what you speak.

Life / A trip to a Polish supermarket [136]

But he had a point about the poor wages being a disincentive though.

Sure...I have said before it is a crap job...but then he went and blamed me for them being like this. If they took the money and handed me the change all would be good. They make it MORE difficult for both of us by playing these games.

He is just mad I didn't say shopping at the supermarket in Poland was better than shopping ANY OTHER PLACE IN THE WORLD WOO HOOO!!

Hey did you know the supermarkets in Poland have higher IQs than all the other supermarkets in Europe? It's in a study..look if you don't believe me ;PP

I may get a beating or a knife attack but I know how to defend against knife attacks.

I doubt this seriously. Even professional knife fighting experts will tell you a knife fight is scary and very hard to win. Most Police will tell you they would rather be in a gun fight than a knife fight all things being equal.

Both parties will get cut and usually badly. I really think you have a skewed view of reality based on your having not experienced anything remotely dangerous or life threatening. Not calling you a bad guy or a coward or anything of the sort. I just think you don't have an accurate picture of the issue.

Haha...yet another self conscious Polish male who get's offended by someone not praising his nation.

Debit card? Are you serious...how is that somehow easier? They have the change they just don't want to bother counting it out or handing it to you. IT IS THEIR JOB and they are the one's making it harder by being like this.

And maybe some of us don't feel like getting up to go shopping at 8:30 with all of you early birds? Morning people always think they are somehow better...that makes me laugh.

A lot of what I wrote was parody and in fun...but as usual someone got their peepee hurt over it and sounded off.

Funny stuff ;)

An inanimate object? It is for killing lad, wake up.

It IS an inanimate object. It can't kill anyone without human manipulating it. In that regard it is no different than a car or a metal pipe. (barring freaks accident that can happen with any object..hell people have drowned in toilets but those are not contested)

Killing is not always bad. How do you think your meat gets to the table? Do you think the cows, pigs and poultry all live happy lives and die of old age in their sleep then go to the shops? We need to kill for food. Bad guys want to hurt you and maybe even kill you. I can't think of many people who would like to let them if they had a choice. It's not like the movies where you can fight off people intent on killing you often with your bare hands. Sometimes a gun can save innocent lives by the very act of killing.

Yes I wish there was no violence and everything was happy and great...but to ignore reality is foolish. You imagine the Police or societal mores will keep you safe against all evils. Not true.

Guns were created for one purpose - to kill.

Some people survive off food taken from hunting.

Also bad guys trying to kill you are only going to be stopped with something bigger and stronger. If someone is coming at me with a pipe trying to smash my head in I want a tool I can stop them with before they get close enough to do me harm. First I would avoid the situation at all costs...but sometimes you cannot. The people so against self defense have lived very sheltered lives and I hope never have to learn that lesson the painful or deadly way.

U r giving people the means to kill, what is so noble about that?

People don't need guns or knives to kill. You are not seeing the problem and blaming an inanimate object.

Not pragmatic at all...its reactionary. Police shouldn't be out giving people a hard time for carrying a tool. I can kill someone with my shoelaces. Will those be outlawed soon?

News / Another Case Of Intentional HIV Infections in Poland [73]

Jesus so many times repeats 'let those who have eyes see, and those who have ear hear'. These had meanings... not literal.

Not everyone accepts your religious theory as reality. It is quite arrogant to assume it is true simply because you believe in that theory.

The only honest answer is that we just don't know.

when I'm just being practical,

I dont think you are. I think you are being emotional and reactive to the violence and putting the blame in the wrong place. It is much more practical to have these tools available.

Try to understand the positive. You will realise whats happening.

Yet your ignore the less pleasant things and explain them away by some theory of humanity's "ascending". Maybe we are going the other way? Or in a cycle...who knows?

I realize what is happening as much as anyone. You have no great insight into humanity.

Go ahead and join the likes of noiimigration, michal2 and puzzler.

No more responses from me to you, unless you behave you malicious half-brain.

Amusing that you think that bothers me...and I don't believe you anyway. People like you always say such things but your egotistical need to show how smart you think you are always wins in the end. And that last piece of the last sentence makes no sense....

As we go ahead in time....the world is bound to be cleaner and cleaner...no matter what we think....morality is victorious in every conditions.

You live in some fantasy world. Yeah some things are greatly improved but some things are very bad and worse.

It must be nice to live in a bubble.

Spare yourself.
Either offer an argument or just keep your Americunt opinion to yourself.

How about....no? :) I will say what I like without your permission or approval.

A bit like you...words words and more words regardless if they actually mean anything. It is common in a certain European culture where people try so very hard to sound intellectual.

So it is moral to kill another human being?

In my personal morality if it stops them from killing or harming an innocent then yes.

If someone is killing for pleasure or control then no.

I know people can try to tear it apart and nitpick but it really is clear to me.

We can feel love.... when love touches.... its eternal. Proof that its not just theory.

BS...you feel 'something' and you call it love thereby elevating it to some grand status. Proves nothing other than you have a reaction to a stimulus.

I'm not for knives either, I will not defend thugs or others who carry them.

Yeah because killing someone is the only use for a knife? I guess in your view I am a thug because I carry a knife daily...comes in handy for all sorts of NON evil things. You are an extremist in your views of tools seanus. We are letting a few bad apples make us all controlled to the point of insanity.

I bet you have , but maybe didn,t notice it...they are everywhere...big yellow sign , with a ladybird on...

Weird because I know where most places to buy food are in the main parts of the city and have never seen one. It's all Albert's (CarreFour) , MarcPol, Tesco, Auchan, Pitor & Pawel and Społem in my experience along with the little independent shops.

morality is the true solution.

An impossible solution is my point....a fantasy...so pointless to put forward as practical solution. I would bet everything I have and know that humanity will NEVER be without immorality.

I think you are an optimist not a realist. Humanity is not 'pure'. It is the best good and the worst evil all wrapped up in one and people choose which end of that spectrum to live in. Evil will always be here no matter what shiny happy wishes you make.

I see that the German (?) chain Plus is being replaced with/by Biedronka

I have never seen a Biedronka...maybe I just don't notice them. Is it like Społem? Those are all over....

lack of morality is the dieseas

And it will never be cured...it is part of humanity. Only hippies and people kidding themselves can't see this.

Condoms are better than nothing and are much easier or even possible to effect than morality.

Life / Uniformed people in Poland - explanation needed. [17]

disgraceful. some of them might be pretty, but they never smile and always seem to be quite miserable and angry. i suspect they might be lesbians.

Well in that case I need to see two of them wrestling in a mud pit. Adapt and overcome ;)
