Love / Pre-Marriage Course in Poland [11]

Yeah, my finacee told me that the priest will probably be a bit pissed (not literally)at the idea that we got everything sorted our end as he would have charged a fee for sorting the documents had we gone through him intially, but who knows how much.

still got to pay the normal fee for the service and use of the church etc 400 - 550 zl................I think.

Love / Pre-Marriage Course in Poland [11]

no, it was an English Catholic church here in Southampton. Attending the course was one part of the process, as I am Protestant and my fiancee Catholic, we had to complete an application form with the Priest which contained such questions for my finacee such as we agree that our future children will be baptised and brought up in the Catholic faith etc.

This all the went to the Bishop in Portsmouth who sent it to the area Bishop in Poland and which then gets filtered down to the Parish Priest in my fiancees hometown.

Love / Pre-Marriage Course in Poland [11]

Hey mate,

6 weeks??........don't know what the hell all that is about? My finacee told me that 6 weeks is the norm to do the course in Poland, but we went to St.Edmunds Catholic Church in Southampton, and attended a day course which we were told would be fine in order to submit the certificate to the Polish parish priest.

Love / Pre-Marriage Course in Poland [11]

Hey Polsa,

My Polish fiancee and I intend to marry in Poland in June, and we attended a marriage preperation course in our local Catholic church here in the UK. It took one Saturday and cost £30 to get the certificate to complete our paperwork.

Hope this helps

Work / Does anyone know of anything or have contacts to help find employment [11]

Hi everyone,

well i'm here in sunny Warsaw sorting a few things out.

In my last ditched attempt before I fly back to the UK, I'm trying to find out if anyone out there has any contacts or any ideas of where to look for potential employment here in Warsaw.

I have an application in with Citibank Handlowy, and thats why I'm in Warsaw, for a potential interview (which they phoned me about) but have heard nothing since (2 weeks ago) telephoning them yesterday, they said they are still sorting things out, if thats the truth???

Meeting a girl tonight who has a room to rent in her apartment, I'm thinking of just renting it anyway, even when I go back to the UK, so I have somewhere out here, and an address in Warsaw - what does everyone think? is it a good idea? short term maybe?

Basically, after all the s**t I had off that other girl (which you all know about) I have finally got her out of my head, and KNOW that Warsaw is where I want to be.

Its hard to find work here, but not impossible I suppose, so if anybody has any info at all, I would be so grateful

Thanks everyone

Love / My Ex wants to meet me while in Poland for Easter - what should I do? [10]

Hey guys,

well, I'm flying out to Poland on Tuesday for Easter, having heard my story so far, what would you advise if the ex wants to meet me while I'm there. I was just about getting her out of my head, not phoning or texting, when she must have realised hey what's going on, where is he. Thats when she started contacting me, asking when I was coming out next etc. I am in two minds whether to just go there, stay away, not make contact and if she wants to contact me, its her choice. Seems she isn't letting go 100%

UK, Ireland / Night school - Polish language classes in the UK [8]

no...........RazZ :)

I have a Polish background anyway, with a lot of family in Poland. It would be nice to be able to hold a good conversation when I go to see my brother and sister there, and with my Polish friends here in the UK.

Hi szarlotka,

Yeah, certainly was confusing, what happened :)

Well, have been applying for all sorts in Warsaw, without any answer yet. Trying to follow up all the leads I can. I know there must be some sort of opportunity there for me, but its just trying to identify something. You say that big consultancies have offices there, but its just trying to find who do.

I am going to Warsaw on 01 March for 10 days.

Work / Job opportunities in Poland for a foreigner? (other than a teacher) [175]

Hi Vix

Thought that might be the case.

I am an Office Manager in the UK with a lot of family in Poland too, I thought about the teaching route, but like you I am looking to just find a company to work for, but its not easy. Do you find being in Poland itself makes it easier to find opportunities?

Hi Vix,

Just wandered about your circumstances. Did you initially go to Poland 10 months ago to teach english? Why Bielsko-Biala? I am thinking along the same lines as you, try and find a company rather than the teaching route.

Cheers

Life / PKS timetables online? [11]

This is all I could see on the internet

POLISH COACH / BUS SCHEDULES - PKS
Finding good bus connections is a matter of good luck or patience. With no web page to find information on the web apart from Polski Express: polskiexpress.pl

looks like you may have to brave the cold.

Work / How to find a half decent job in Poland? [18]

Hello everyone,

Just wandering if anyone knows how to find a half decent job in Poland?

My girlfriend recently moved back to Poland, so the best way for me to keep things going with her, is to move out there.

I have looked on jobpilot.pl and some other webpages, but have only seen a few english positions, and these seem to be in and around the vicinity of Warsaw, with international companies. I would of course consider working for a Polish company, my Polish is not brilliant, but in a Polish environment, would soon pick more up.

I am an office manager with all the relevent IT skills etc. before that i was a mechanical engineer.

If anyone knows, of any companies, links etc, I would be extremely grateful.

Cheers
