Law / Considering Buying a Polish Business [8]

Hi

I'm Considering buying a already well established Polish Business and will be making a visit to Poland to see how I can raise finance. I am going to talk to some banks during my visit.

So since I always get some good advice on here (or should I say words of wisdom)

What are my chances of coming back from my trip with some sort of funding organised?
or are Polish Banks not to forth coming with help

Study / Polish language courses in Krakow [14]

I came back from a two week course in Krakow recently at Prolog Language school I did learn some stuff during my two weeks but some of the other students I spoke with had been at the school for 4 weeks. I found it pretty tough with all the words and grammar everyday but I feel I benifited from being in Poland

I've ask various mates who can speak a second language and they told me it took them 2 months to get a reasonable understanding of the language they were studing. However, those 2 months were spent in that country.

I have to agree with you my learning has slowed since I arrived back in the UK

Law / Poland's Home Improvement Market? [14]

Thanks for your advise James sounds like you know alot about this sector

The one thing I've not researched is the Building regs yet

My Idea was to start up on on my own but as my Polish is very limited I knew I would have to employ a Native Polish/English speaker to talk with the customers

the good thing is that I'm still young so willing to take a hands on-role.
Sounds like I should up-skill myself before I start anything least then if I do employ someone else my only skill will not be just Plumbing

well, so what is your reason for starting up a business, just to have something to do?

To be honest I want to Challange myself more the current job I'm in just has no satisifaction, no sence of achivement even if i manage to sort a very time consuming Plumbing problem (do I get any thanks... do I F**K just more moans )

I Know it would be easier to start something here in the UK but i don't want to follow the crowd I want to do something different

Law / Poland's Home Improvement Market? [14]

I know they all moved over here! Due in part to the VERY POOR wages they are paid in Poland another thing I've looked at

All I need to Know are the chances of establishing a business in this sector viable?

I know I'll never make mega bucks thats not my reasons for trying to establish a business in the first place

so any sensable advise please

Law / Poland's Home Improvement Market? [14]

Hi

I've been doing research into the current state of the Polish construction industry (mainly plumbing as this is my field of expertise) and considering starting a business in the near future.

I've also come across two articles here in the UK the most recent Jan 2007 which state there is a current boom in home improvements market and not enough skilled workers to do the work.

Is this true at the moment in Poland? any other advise appreciated

Life / Thinking of relocating from Ireland to Poland! [5]

I agree about the language

I've been in Krakow these last two weeks if you've never really studied Polish you might be in for a shock

I came to Krakow only knowing some basic Polish I thought I would be quite good after a couple of weeks but really struggled but you may be a quick learner so don't let me put you off!

I wish I had another couple of weeks here then I think my Polish might be a lot better

Language / Polish Language Pronunciation - Example Words and Phrases [220]

Thanks for the tip:)

Think I had very HIGH expectations before I came over to Krakow now realising how difficult polish can be for an english speaker!

It's left me feeling a bit depressed but I've got to keep ploding on as they say only one more week left at this language school

Life / Do Poles celebrate Valentines day? [29]

Hi Iwona

I sort of stumbled on the "names day" thing while looking at info on Valentines day so know what day her name day is.

It doesn't really help that I don't know if she's interested I'm probably chasing a lost cause again I seem to be good at that

Life / Do Poles celebrate Valentines day? [29]

Hi

Was going to mention "Names day" which I came across on-line last night but looks like it's been mentioned in other posts.

Was myself thinking of sending a Valentines card to someone in Poland but I'd don't think it would be the best thing to do.

I hear remembering somebody's "name day" that its quite tradtional to celebrate
in Poland would it be better sending a "Names day" card instead? i'm sure she'd impressed that I even had a clue.

any thoughts welcome

UK, Ireland / Working in Europe - some info for people interested! [4]

I'm actually a Plumber In the UK so I shouldn't really have too much trouble finding a job but saving a bit of money first though but going back to krakow in March to learn some polish. I've looked into doing lessons here but no college course here in north essex and private lessons are really expensive.

Hi Telefonitika

Just read your post has given me a few other places to look if I do consider moving to Poland.
Eures is quite a useful site shame the job adverts (for other country's) can't be veiwed in your home language but hope to rectify that when I learn a bit more polish
