Life / Indian moved to Poland [532]

Indian restaurant in Wroclaw is an absolutely cracking idea! To start with, there is not even a single Indian restaurant there - so lesser competition and first mover advantage. Moreover, the supply of ingredients can be managed relatively easily from Berlin - I met a couple of Indian restaurateurs in Warsaw and they said they get their stuff from Berlin.

There can also be a dilemma about how to position drinks (read alcohol) as the Indian main courses do not go merrily hand-in-hand with wine, beer, etc. But a bar carved out and serving snacks like tandoori chicken with drinks should be interesting - to draw an example from the places in Wroclaw, something like Pod Papugami or The Mexican might do the trick.

Travel / india to poland by flight [6]

Your exact time may vary depending on wind speeds.

Amusing!!

Nelson, since there are no direct flights between India and Poland, it really depends a lot on the airport in Poland you want to fly from. e.g. Wroclaw will have lesser number of connecting flights as compared to Warsaw - so your waiting time at the intermediate airport would be more for Wroclaw.

I suggest going to the following link and checking out the options available -

cheers!

Language / How to say that you dont speak polish in polish? [23]

^^ Never imgined anyone would reply with such a precise pronunciation! Thanks a lot Dice! :)
Makes one think - is there a Website which can provide such a tool? Like, type in a text, and it throws back how it is said?

Language / I need a good dictionary! (book) [21]

Mind you, I think that, if your level is fairly basic, Usborne do a "First Thousand Words in Polish" book aimed at children.

That sounds like a really great way to start learning Polish! I am arriving at Wroclaw tomorrow. Any suggestions on a good bookstore in Wroclaw that will stock it? Anyone.....?

From the Introductions thread -

cześć everyone!!

My name is Rishabh and I am from India. I would be traveling with my wife, Priya, to Poland very soon for a 'long' business trip. I am coming to Wroclaw to set up a new office of the company I work for.

We both are absolute suckers for travel, regional food, parties and movies. On our trips to Argentina, the USA, Uruguay and a lot of places in India, we absolutely loved what we saw, ate and drank :D.....Chori-pan and Cordero Patagonico in Argentina........wohhhhhhh...Heavenly!! My wife is a vegetarian, though - Quatro Queso is her plate of Pizza :)

We are really looking forward to the Poland trip - try the local cuisine (Kielbasa is a no-miss, I have heard), meet new people, learn about the culture, travel around, and of course, (try to) master the Polish language :). They say we both have a flare for languages :p

This forum is truly amazing and very informative. Will be visiting here quite often. I would need suggestions on a lot of things - mostly gastronomical and nocturnal :D So, will keep posting.

And of course, if anybody wants to catch up for a drink...we are just a post/pm away :)

cześć
Rish
