Life / 15 year old girl, separated parents, father won't allow her to travel overseas [8]

My friend has a 15 yr old goddaughter in Poland who lives with her mother. The father never had anything to do with his daughter and moved to Australia some years ago.

The mother hasn't been able to get the father's parental rights struck off (for reasons I'm unsure of).

The father has promised a few times that he would see a notary in Australia but it's not really surprising that he's simply not bothered to do it.

The goddaughter would love to come to the UK for a short holiday but can't apply for a passport until both parents sign for her application, is this correct ?

She's too young for an ID card so is there anyway in which she can travel overseas ?

Travel / Hunting nearby Krakow [9]

It's not as complicated as some people are making out.

There are "hunting trips" organised for tourists subject to conditions.

Law / Selling on Allegro from UK [19]

There is a company in Manchester selling new and reconditioned Dell computers on Allegro and were even recruiting for a Polish speaker to deal exclusively with this market.

So I guess there is a profit to be made.

Related: Setting up a company on allegro.pl from the UK

I sell a product on the UK market and I have found that I can sell the same product on the Polish market, we have web sales in the UK but we would like to sell on allegro.pl I have tried to setup an account but it askes for my NIP number, this is you VAT number in Poland I think but as an English company we don't have an NIP and as our company in the UK is less than a year old we have less than £73,000 turnover so we don't have to register for tax in the UK and don't charge VAT in the UK. We are a UK registered company, can anyone tell us how we can sort an account with allegro.pl with UK registration.

The only problem is use you sell up to 3,000zl allegro.pl will ask for information ref our company ie verify are company and are NIP number will not mach our company. would this be a problem?? I think it would.

They are normally written three digits, three digits, two digits, two digits.

UK, Ireland / Sad life of a Polish immigrant in the UK. Ch. 2 - Stress [63]

The grass is always greener Ksysia.

As an Englishman the English weather depresses me. We haven't had a summer for the last three years ! At least in Poland your summer starts in May and finishes in September.

Polish politics is depressing and full of corruption but guess what ? It's the same over here ! The only difference is our politicans have been part of the system longer than yours have so they know how to cheat the system without getting caught most of the time.

Christmas actually means something in Poland. In the UK it's just an excuse to drink and shop.

Poland has it's fair share of alcoholics but have you ever been out on a Friday or Saturday night in the UK ? The behaviour of thousands of our lager louts puts the behaviour of one of your drunken men on a bicycle in the shade.

Your food is better. Raw ingredients such as tomatoes tastes amazing. Even your flowers smell. Walk down a Polish street in the summer and you're assualted by all the fragrances around you.

Your internal tourism infratructure is better than ours and more affordable. It's still affordable in Poland to go to Zakopane or rent an apartment in Sopot but try doing something similar in the UK and you soon realise it's cheaper to holiday abroad than it is in the UK.

Poland isn't perfect but it's got a lot going for it

UK, Ireland / Sad life of a Polish immigrant in the UK. Ch. 2 - Stress [63]

Then why don't Poles take an example from UK and make Poland a stress free country? Why do Poles always think somewhere else is better than Poland? Why don't Poles abide by the rules of the country they are in instead of doing things the way they are done in Poland: illegally and against the rules.
If Poland would mobolize itself and the people try to make something out of themselves instead of thinking that other countries will support them and help them, then Poland would also be stress free.

Why do you post under two separate names when you're clearly the same person i.e identical avatars ???

Then why don't Poles take an example from UK and make Poland a stress free country? Clearly you think life for us Brits is stress free. It isn't.

Why do Poles always think somewhere else is better than Poland? I would hazard a guess that most of the Poles who think this way are still in Poland and haven't travelled much. As a Pole you're more aware than I am of the history your country has had to endure. 50 years of Communism with all it's negativity drip fed to the new generation....YOUR generation. It's hardly surprising people THINK it's better elsewhere.

Poland is a very, very young democracy and it's inevitable there will be growing pains. Your country has waited since 1939 to be truly free again and it's a pity that people like yourself are abandoning it.

Life / Polish funerals-no coffins inside a church ?? [5]

Someone told me that in Poland the coffin is never brought inside the church.

It is only taken to a chapel (often found inside or nearby the cemetery).

Is this true ?

News / Weird and quirky events and competitions in Poland. [8]

I've been approached by a TV production company in the UK who, for some reason, want to strange events/competitions for her presenters to compete against each other.

Examples already found by her in Europe are :-

· world mobile phone throwing COMPETITION

· WORLD SAUNA CHAMPIONSHIPS

· Wife Carrying World Championships

· Mosquito Swatting Championships

· Ant-Nest Sitting Competition

Any information on something along a similar theme would be appreciated.
