I wrote an article titled 'Designed in Poland?' about a year ago as part of my study Industrial Design Engingeering at the Techincal University in Delft (Netherlands). It's available here in Dutch but I have been planning to translate it in English if there is demand for it.

Many of the things mentioned above are discussed in the article. I particularly love Polish graphic illustrators. Some months ago, smashing magazine did a roundup of 'Creativity Spark From Masters Of Illustration' and among the works where some great Polish designers:

Travel / Petrified of traveling to Poland by myself [9]

Maybe it's me, but why is Cracow missing in your list? It is one of the most beautiful cities (if not the most beautiful) and not far from zakopane. It also has *a lot* of good clubs. Definetely a must-see.

Also nearby Cracow is the wieliczka salt mine, unique in the world, and of course auschwitz. Not the most fun place to visit but I think everyone should visit it once.

But february can be a cold and harsh month in Poland, and it's definetely not the season the be out a lot. You would probably be best of with some friends in a pub drinking 'grzane piwo z sokiem' :).

Amazing... I just began reading this thread expecting to find some new facts I didn't know. Instead as soon as somebody began raising the question whether Copernicus was a Pole or not, a very delicate point was touched and people became enraged in fighting each other with arguments and getting the whole WWII into the thread...

In my opinion, if Poland would be a person, I would say it would be a very uncertain person who doesn't have a strong believe in it's own potential. I think recent emigrations are a prove of that.
