Law / Polish citizenship for Brit grandson of Major Janusz Brochowicz-Lewiński [4]
Hi, my situation is somehow a little complicated.
My father was 1/3 Polish, 1/3 British, 1/3 Scottish , his mum being 1/2 Scottish/British and dad is Polish Major Janusz Brochowicz-Lewiński. As far as I am concern, my dad was a British citizen, I am not sure if he was a polish citizen as well because of his father. My dad's parents were seperated/divorced when he was at a very very young age and his mother (my nan) remarried to a Scottish man. My father and his siblings were adopted by my nan's new husband and had their last name changed. And so my dad and us have been using the Scottish last name eversince, even after my (adopted) Scottish grandad passed away.
It has been a while since I last saw my paternal Polish grandad Janusz Brochowicz-Lewiński. The last time I saw him was before my parents seperated. Sadly my dad passed away a few years ago. But I am still in touch with my Uncle whom was still in touch with my Polish grandad. Just like my dad, I am 1/3 Polish, 1/3 Scottish and 1/3 British.
I would like to know where do I stand with regards to applying for a Polish citizenship for myself and my wife. By the way, I am a British citizen by birth/ancestry because my mother is british but my wife of 4 years is not a British Citizen (yet). Do I have to give up my british citizenship for a Polish citizenship and does my wife has to give up her citizenship as well? Do we have to live in Poland for a certain period of time before we could apply for citizenship?
Many thanks in advance,
