Food / Busia's Bread [7]
Busia used to make a bread that I beat myself up everyday for not writing down or remembering the recipe. It was a white bread with raisens. The bread was very large and round and she baked it on a stone in the regular oven. It had a topping of farmer's cheese and I think it was mixed with eggs that wasn't sweet but the whole thing was just too good for words. I'm sure it was a variation on a popular recipe but I can't find a starting point anywhere. We always called it "kowats" (that's how it sounded - certainly I'm sure that's not how it's spelled). Can anyone give me a place to start? A link or anything would be so very much appreciated.
