Life / Need to get registered for Nip number. [14]
I'm not certain exactly what you need to get a NIP, but I think I can give you a starting point...
You'll need to register your address with the census department (Wydział Ewidencji), which in Krakow is located at al. Powstania Warszawskiego 10. You'll need your current rent contract for where you're living. (I don't recall what other info you may need to bring.) They'll give you a confirmation paper. Also, after a month or so, you should be able to get a PESEL from them. (Everyone staying in Poland for more than 2 months is entitled to have a PESEL issued.)
The next place you'll want to go is the department of foreign affairs (Wydsiał Spraw Obywatelskich i Cudzoziemców), at ul. Przy Rondzie 6. They should be able to help you better understand the system of what exactly you are applying for, and what supporting documentation you will need. I suspect you are looking for a residency card (Karta Pobytu), but I'm not certain of all the details.
Good luck
