Love / Received an email from a young Polish woman - Is she too good to be true? [70]

Hi to all and warm greetings.

Please help me with a dilema. I a few weeks ago I recieved an email out of the blue from a young Polish woman. I replied to her and was totally honest. I told her I was more than twice her age, I was not wealthy etc. etc. and she still wrote back to me!

Now let me tell you, she is not only a stunner but she has almost told me her life story. In my last email to her I purposely put down things that would put off 99% of women and still her last email ends with (I have copied and pasted this directly from her email) With love and hugs. Elena.

Most you out there have probably heard the expession about the internet 'if it's too good to be true then it usually is' Well, that's what it looks like to me in this case, as her writing seems so genuine it's enough to make an old man weep!

Just as an addage let me tell you I am not your typical old fart and I have a little saying: 'I may be old and at times foolish but I'm not both old and foolish at the same time!

So there you have it. Your advice would be greatly appreciated

Thankyou for your words of wisdom. I am a cautious man, as I hope you may have realised and there is no way I would leap in blind. But being the soft SH1T that I am I will probably end up finding her a suitable and willing applicant.

cable: Yes I was too and asked her in my first email where she got my address but she said she could not remember!

MareGaea: When you say address I presume you mean her email address. Yes I have and it ends with yahoo.pl so I have to presume it's direct from Poland. 'You're sure she is not hopitalized or something?' That bought a smile to my face :-)) In a mental institution perhaps? Or may be even a blind school for mentally handicapped nymphomaniacs?

Thanks again for your replies, please keep them coming. As opposed to the 'Iron Lady' I am well amused with your replies.

My word, having trouble keeping up with your replies!

wildrover: Thanks but I have already spent some time looking at scams but a few of your suggestions I have overlooked, so thanks and will do some more checking.

aphrodisiac: Yep, aleady asked her and she told me her dad is half Russian!

sausage: Yep, I have profiles on quite a few dating sites.

P.S. I should have added 'and thankful' at the end of my last post.

Ok, I am really greatful to you all. Believe me when I say I will not get stung. I have read far too many harrowing cases of such things going on. And as they say, 'One cannot get blood out of a stone.' I am that stone, skint but proud.

wildrover: 'Get a nice woman of your own age.' I have been trying for over a year but apart from all the emotional/relationship baggage women of my age seem to lug around with them, they just can't keep up with me, if you know what I mean ;-)

Arien: Yep, that's exactly what I'm doing, a talk buddie is all she is and as I have already stated if she ends up being genuine (I won't hold my breath!) I have loads of younger mates who would be more than willing to dangle from one of her branches.

markcooper: I am a young and energetic 58 year old with more 'spunk' than a horny stud bull!

MareGaea: Sorry to correct you but it's Eric Crapton as opposed to Eric Clapton, who is a real guitarist :-)

Maregaea: 'Don't make him more hopeful than he already is!' That is not the case in this instance. I love to communicate with people, whatever their race or creed. I have a deep interest in all things and like to explore the human mind. You would not be surprised to know one of my main interests is psychology

Just out of interest. Is anyone who has answered my topic actually in or comes from Poland?

yeh sure...
or in other words you're a sad old perve? who else would even be entertaining scam emails?

Thats fine. Everyone is entitled to thier own opinion. And besides there is no way of me proving you wrong over the internet. But let me assure you you are barking up the wrong tree!

Whats the basis of this belief? Dont tell me its what your heart says :P :)

No, I am too long in the tooth to let my heart rule my head.

Whats did you check?

I did a whos check. If you've not come across it it's a way of checking the path of emails. i.e. the origin and paths it took to reach me.

How do you know?

That I'm afraid is what she told me and there is no way of checking.

So going by your previous posts this put her in her late twenties at the most. (?)

She say's she is 26. I'm fairly certain you are correct in your assumption but I am still interested in finding out and getting to the bottom of it, if you pardon the expression.

....and there is no fool like an old fool

Yes I have heard that saying and if I had a way of proving I am not 'that old fool,' I would. And no offence taken :-)

Thanks for your advice but I am well protected in all departments. I built this computer from the ground up, installed all the software and use three different external hard drives for downloads/games etc. etc. I also do a backup every day and everything that works in the background for protection is also updated every day, most of it automatically.

get pics !!!!!!

Already got the pics but I still ain't got the T-shirt!

i sent my entire life savings to after she promised me a share in a bean factory.....

I haven't got a bean as I've already stated so I have nothing to lose but my dignity and I lost that way back when.

You would be surprised how much your AV would pass through and how much false positives you get.

I wouldn't dream of telling you which AV I use but what I can tell you is it's not commercially available and if it was it would be way out of the range of most peoples pockets. But I got it free ;-)

You know pictures are the easiest thing to fake, do you?

Yes, of course they are. I'm a keen photographer and Photoshop is always there to help. Even before digital photography photo's could 'lie.'

Duh, via Usenet and Torrent you can get everything for free, eh? :)

My AV was not off the internet. It was supplied to me by a friend, which is really all I can say.

Anyway, it seems as though thing's are slowing down on this subject now so I will leave it there for now. But let me take this opportunity to thank everyone for their input and sound advice. It has not only been informative but entertaining as well. What more could anyone ask for? You seem to be a really nice bunch of guy's and girl's.

I have just finished reading through the topic and and will now carry some of it through to research some more.

Hugs and kisses

Don't read too much into it; it's just polite expression.

Just posted this and noticed the bit in red in the previous post. Who put that there?

That's the moderator speaking to me, Eric. I have just spent two days on the angry bench for going off-topic too much.

Ok, I understand :-)

I have just gone all the way through the Hamza Bello Saga. Wow, you must have lots of time on your hands? The first Nigerian scam that came my way, I wasted far too much time on. Nowdays I just attach the letter to an email and send it to a contact of mine in the police force over here. Perhaps that's what I should do with this emailer but I'm afraid curiosity has still not 'killed the cat.'

plk123 Work it, eric, work it :D
Not quite sure what you mean by this?

Ok, thanks. I will.

I guess you have to be Dutch to fully understand the jokes that I put in there

I think I did get it but the scammer obviously didn't (But then we had the benefit of the explanations and added notes)

Ok, that's all for today. I am now going to answer Elena's latest email. I will of course keep you all informed of the progress. I did think of pasting Elena's emails but I think at this stage it would not feel right. And before someone remarks negatively to my last sentence please don't bother as it will be water off a ducks *rse (No offence meant)

If any of the people who were kind enough to reply to my thread are interested? This is an up-date.

Since sending 'Elena' an email seven days ago, there has been no reply! I have copied and pasted the text in that email:

...Elena,

I do not have much time as I am just about to go out so I will make this a short reply. You have already told me some of the things in your previous emails, which means you are repeating yourself!

I would like you to answer the questions I asked you in my emails! When you do (Which will never happen) I will reply to your proposed scam!

Regards

Nick

P.S. I have forwarded the relative information to the police ;-)

Well, I didn't think I'd be posting on this thread again but here I am! Blow me down with a feather, she or whoever they are sent me another email today! I had no intention of copying and pasting any of the emails sent me by Elena but I just have to place this before you to see what you think?

Hello dear Nick!!!!

Your letter as a beam of the sun warms my heart and lifts my mood...

Your gentle and sincere Elena!!!

(Whoever it is must either be thick or desperate or something else!)

Thanks for your replies/advice people.

dude ive gotten e-mails like that before. if you seek entertainment continue.

I'm signed off longterm sick so it does have an element of entertainment for me :-) I've only had one previous attempt (Nigeria dating scam) to fleece me and I knew from the first email it was a dating scam. This emailer seems just that little bit different. I have (As I've already stated) passed on the details to the police. I will get in touch with them by phone tomorrow to see if they have any info but I won't hold my breath!

she sure does sound romantic, though. ;)

She sure does!

Thanks Ebony. I am treating whoever the person is as a scam but with time on my hands I am playing along. He or she is still coming on extremely strong but surely they must realise by now that I am playing with them! If they don't then they are definitely thick as two planks.

Thanx Lodz

Yep I'm still at it and they are still biting. I raised the stakes, well maybe? I sent an email asking whoever it is to link up with me on MSN messenger. Told them I have webcam with a microphone and we can meet face to face in real time! Can't wait to get the reply :-)
