Work / Advice for Job hunting in Poznan [7]

Hi All,
I need a bit of help or advice on seeking a position in Poznan.
I relocated from the UK in June, with my wife (who is from Poznan) & our 2 yr old daughter.
My wife has secured a post with a company in the city & we have just secured a place in a nursery for our child. Now it's my turn to get sorted!

I was under no illusion that finding a job here would be difficult, particularly for a non Polish speaker. I undertook and passed TEFL course to teach English before I left the UK but I'm not sure that's what I want to do for a career. My background is in manufacturing. I have held positions from operator, team leader, supervisor, shift manager and plant manager. I have been in manufacturing for over 30 years, I've worked every shift you can think of and it's where I feel comfortable.

I have applied for a couple of post's but not knowing the language may have stopped me getting the job's?
I have enroled in a Polish language course, I'm having lessons twice a week and slowly picking things up but my god it's a hard language to learn!

I know there are a number of large manufacturing companies based here in Poznan, but which is the best way to approach them? I am being told different things from people I know. some are saying contact direct (which I have done), others are saying it would be best to go through agencies??

I sent my CV to over a dozen agencies about a month ago, yet to hear back from any of them?
To be honest, if I have to take a job as a button pusher for the average salary then that's what I'll do, for someone who's worked all his life, it's been difficult being sat at home with the child the past few months, I need to get back to work.

We have a nice appartment, we have our own transport, we have food in the fridge! I just need to get back to work.
Any advice or reccomendations would be welcome.
If you know of any post's that I may be eligable for you can contact me at here or :lsduncan46@yahoo.co.uk
Thanks for taking the time to read.

Thanks for your responce.
My background has been mostly in automotive, working with and for the likes of......
Rover (bad old days!), Jaguar,Toyota,Nissan and BMW (Mini plant in Oxford).
I would preffer to stay in automotive but I am willing to try other industries/manufacturers.
The last company I worked for in the UK made deep sea pipes for the Gas & Oil industry.
I have an updated CV which I can send to you if you forward me your e-mail.
Thanks.

Hi Vndunne,
Thanks for the invite. I have read a few of the notes on the forum, it sound like it could be a good night!
I'm not such a big drinker as I used to be, a couple of beers & a swigg of JD is about my lot nowadays then tucked up in the land of Zzz's. ( must be an age thing, knocking on the door of 50 slowing me down!?)

Not sure what our plans are aroung the date but I will try & make it if I can.
Regards.
