News / Polish-American Edward Moskal [6]

Spare me the rhetoric, I always see this junk posted someplace, and the revisionists are at it again. The mechanics used to consolidate and jumpstart the PAC and PNA are the same today as they would be in the past. As for this anti-semitic nonsense, the original issue was a convent at Auschwitz that has been there since WWII as I recall. All of this other stuff is Chicago politics at its finest. Change the issue, and make it into something else, and that is exactly what happened. So, quit tagging the name out as anti-semitic, he is not even alive to defend himself, and usually would not bother to reply to it anyways.

Recall that Edward Moskal was an advisor to Congress on matters concerning Poland, has probably resulted in the expedited acceptance of Poland into NATO, and numerous other local and even international contributions which has led to numerous honors which are not posted here. As a matter of fact, I would probably think that he is rolling in his grave right now, Edward Moskal was more conservative than liberal, and as such would probably not be dancing with the democratic party in Illinois and DNC as the current Polish American Congress appears to be. If anything they should distance themselves from the DNC and democrats, ignore the Daley machine, they have before and survived e.g. an advisor to Mayor Daley said once that it was time for Edward Moskal to move on and be replaced, but instead the membership of PAC went on to reelect him as head of the Polish American Congress. He had his defeats but moved on e.g. defeating Rahm Emmanuel in the polls.

Do we forget? Yes! Should we forget? No! I would say that the current Obama Administration and Rahm Emmanuel by sitting as head of it as Chief of Staff is something to be watched. I would suggest reading the fine print for the new health care program as just one of many points to be made of Barak Obama, Rahm Emmanuel and the DNC. Thus far, the current administration is showing that maybe just possibly Edward Moskal was right about some things. Edward Moskal was accused of being racist and antisemitic, another one of those reasons was Rahm Emmanuelm and Chicago politics. If one paid attention recently, I would say the current administration has been dodging the bullet on that issue. PAC is something to be contended with, the weaker it is, the easier it is to dismiss it, and Edward Moskal knew that, and he worked hard to keep it strong. That in my book, is one lesson that Polish Americans need to keep, learn, and no for the future. Individuals are not heard, but groups such as PAC are heard, and should be heard.

If you are Polish, and probably a great many of readers here are, then I would suggest some involvement in an organization such as PAC. I would also suggest that a little conservative thinking such as that of the late Edward Moskal in a unified voice will do a lot more for Polish Americans, the country and relations with Europe and Warsaw. I have been with the Polish Army as part of the American Army in Afghanistan. I have heard some of what they think and feel, and it is not much different from what I am writing here. Do not knock a person like Edward Moskal unless you have all your facts - and that is something that the spin masters do not want you to know.
