Travel / Wroclaw Town Hotel [7]

The really cheap places are the hostels like Nathan's Villa (ul. Swidnicka) or Mleczarnia (ul. Wlodkowica).

If you want a hotel then the cheaper ones are out of the centre. Try Etap (ul. Wyscigowa) or Savoy (Pl. Kosciuszki).

Of course, it depends what your reference point for cheap is... and you get what you pay for. Do you have a budget?

Life / Wroclaw has too much Graffiti [8]

The last issue of Wroclaw in Your Pocket told you where to find some graffiti of more artistic merit. But I agree it is very ugly in general.

I never thought I would live somewhere where the front door was covered in graffiti until I moved here. It's hard to explain to people from UK that really inside it's ok, it's just the outside that's defaced.

I saw Polish people in Wroclaw lifting the paving stones from one of the pedestrian streets yesterday. I imagine they were bored, but we all live in this city and should look after it. I don't understand why they would want to destroy it for themselves and everyone else?

Travel / Taxi cost from the Wroclaw airport to the city center? [9]

Best taxis from the airport are Asco Taxis - now confusingly driving cars with "partner" written on. But they're white cars with a yellow stripe. Go out the teriminal and turn right and you'll see them all lined up. Usually one of the drivers there speaks English. The cars are new and clean.

You can even book one to meet you on +48 71 194 55 - they speak English on the phone. It would be worth booking one if it's early morning - then you don't have to worry about being first off the plane to get a taxi. It costs 40-45 PLN depending on traffic.

Feedback / Why do people post on polish forums [27]

I first came here to look for friends because I was lonely.

Now I come here to answer questions and get that nice warm glow from helping somebody.

And there are plenty of interesting posts for when you need a break from work.

Life / You know you have been living in poland too long when.... [73]

You think ah yes must be fish today because it's Friday.
You stop carrying an umbrella everywhere
You stop being a courteous driver (who wants that warm feeling from letting someone out anyway)
You only buy enough bread to last one day because you know it will go stale
You stop thinking let's have a nice roast dinner on Sunday
You have a conversation with a foreigner who speaks good English and it feels like talking to a native speaker
You know what the waitress means when she asks you if you want some paluszki (little fingers) with your beer
You stop wearing and buying stilettoes because of the cobblestones
You expect the shops to shut early on a Saturday
You eat ice cream in Winter
