Polish females experiences in the U.K. working as Au Pairs or nannies? [4]
It wasnt a bed of roses to start of with, from the beginning i really loved it as it was exciting a new adventure, but after a while the child started to annoy me and day by day was looking to be exactly the same. I soon realised that i could not be stuck at home all week, my english classes that i began was suppost to be more often than once a week but because it was more convenient for the mother i only ended up going once a week. The pay was really bad i was earning 50.00 per week, i recieved accomodation and food and eat when the family was eating and had access to everything at home. The family was nice they trusted me from the very first day nothing was hidden from me and the child loved me to bits, then i decided i needed to go out more often so i found a job at weekends as that was my time off but the problem was when i was at home at the weekend still the child would come to be this is why i decided i needed to get out the house. I had other aupair friends but they were quite far away except one who lived in the next village and we spent most weekends together. Going shopping, cinema etc but i still knew i needed something different and found a job working in a restaurant but they wanted me to work evevnings during the week too and that caused alot of controvesy because the parents had to make sure they were home on time which was supposed to be 6pm which never happened before and they struggled with this and i ended up being late very often. During the period i was aupair i wasnt what you would call homesick i missed my family but i was fairly happy in my situation as they did treat me as one of the family.
