USA, Canada / San Diego Polish fest 2008 [6]

I went to the San Diego Polish festival Saturday, 11 Oct 2008 at the St. Maximilian Kolbe church in Pacific Beach, and I have to say that I am extremely disappointed! What kind of Polish festival does not have a live Polka band?? Its like 4th of July with no fireworks! What are these American bands doing at a Polish festival?? If I want see an American band, I can go to a freaking concert any day! Why have them at a Polish fest?? You don't ever see American bands at Greek or Italian festivals, do you??

Secondly, it was extremely crowded! They should reserve some kind of picnic area at a local park and have it there instead. This thing took place in an alley way, literally!

This is a shame San Diego Polonia! Not what I expected!

The town I grew up in, Erie PA, with only approximately 200,000 pop., has a better Polish festival than this one! Much more festive! Maybe because they have many different live "POLISH" bands that come and play, and there is room to dance! Last but not least, you can walk around with your beer and not be closed in under a tent!!

I don't know if you've heard or been to the Pope John Paul II Polish Center in Yorda Linda but it is a great place.

No, I have not been to the Yorba Linda Polish fest. I am new to California.. I will more than likely go next year. Thanks a lot for the info :)
