Genealogy / Oko surname - Rzeszow area [3]

Hello!

My Polish grandmother's maiden name is Oko witch I understand means "eye" in polish.
I can't find much info about this name anywhere. I now we're from Rzeszow, and we have olive complection ...oh and we're really good looking.

Does anyone have any insights on this name? Is it a normal peasant name?

Thanks for any info.

P.S. My grandma was the first polish Mrs. Illinois. I'm serious we're really good looking.

Genealogy / strange Polish mixes [116]

I'm from Chicago and a lot of the neighborhoods are part Polish and part Mexican and they're all catholic ,so you know some kids are coming out of there.

(Not to stereotype catholics having lots of kids.....but you know).
I've met lots of half polish half mexican folks back in Chi-town. It's a good mix.

I'm part polish part native american and who knows what else.
My friends call me Chief Running Kielbasa.

Food / A Polish Soup-What is the name? [16]

Yup, white borsch. Borsch is a word for any polish soup I think. My grandma makes the Easter borsch as well and it's a family favorite.
