Language / What do you find difficult about learning Polish? [98]

theres to many z and w in every word

great for your scrabble score

and they never spell anything like it sounds

the good thing about Polish is that there are relatively few rules to learn, once you've learnt them you can read anything

Law / Linux, Unix, and Open Source in Poland [119]

Total cost of ownership of a piece of software includes the cost of the time taken to learn it. In the UK the man-hour cost of training may not make a switch to "free" software as viable as somewhere like Poland.

Feedback / How to post a picture now ? [14]

I wanted to post this... and It doesn't work...

I think it is because you used the Post URL Link rather than Post Image Link.
The icon of the one you want has a circle, square and triangle on it.

Food / Nudle. Who likes Noodles in Poland? :) [33]

hehe are you going to elaborate?

yeah, it will probably be "randomised"...

I didn't batter her or anything! I had to carry these stinky beetroots all round Tunbridge Wells. Then when we got home, she didn't even help me make the barszcz despite the fact that it's supposedly the only thing she can cook. Anyway I called her a "zepsute dziecko" or something similar, thinking it meant "spoilt child" and she took offence! Only a minor rift!

Food / Nudle. Who likes Noodles in Poland? :) [33]

I still have a fair few packs left :) it's just not the same as the Polish home made stuff though!

It's on a par I think, not exactly a healthy option. I will never make barszcz czerwony again, it was the cause of a "domestic"!!

Food / Nudle. Who likes Noodles in Poland? :) [33]

I'll try that out. Though my local Asda is some distance away! :)

Stock up on it. It's about 34p a packet for 2 servings. Full of additives and shite. Damned tasty with some buttered toast or ravioli.

Great deal I just love Barszcz.

Depending on where you live you can get nice Barszcz Czerwony by Winiary in your local Asda. No need to send your woman out shopping for it!

Food / Eggs - how do you like yours? Poached? Unfertilised? [60]

you have to ask for "jajka w szklance" /eggs in a glass/cup?/ this is a only way you will get poached eggs in Poland

sounds like boiled to me (see my "recipe" on the previous page)

Poaching is also hunting or fishing illegally. Or when someone is headhunted to work at a different company.

Smoked haddock is often poached in milk

jajka sadzone?

I heard this phrase earlier. not sure this is poached eggs. This is how you cook poached eggs...
Boil some water, lightly salted.
Crack some eggs into the lightly boiling water.
Remove the eggs after 3 minutes.

Food / Eggs - how do you like yours? Poached? Unfertilised? [60]

I was telling 2 Polish people today about poached eggs. I explained the process to each of them in great detail, but the concept was totally alien to them. Is poaching unheard of throughout the whole of Poland?

What is your favourite way of cooking/eating eggs?
