Life / What is a Polish neighbor like? [21]

Just because you had bad experiences with neighbours does not mean that all of them are like that. Yes I am Polish and I had plenty of polish neighbours in my past and have yet to meet one that even remotely comes close to the above.

Life / What is a Polish neighbor like? [21]

A Polish neighbour sometimes knows more about you than you do about yourself :).

I 'm in Canada, my neighbours are exactly like that and none of them is Polish. I don't think it’s a polish phenomenon.

Life / Polish 'Silent Night' - two versions. Why?? [8]

Why we have two versions? I think it is a result of two diferent translations (from the original)
This one,for example, was tranlated by Piotr Maszyński.
Cicha noc, święta noc,
pokój niesie ludziom wszem,
a u żłobka Matka Święta
czuwa sama uśmiechnięta,
nad Dzieciątka snem.

I have no idea who translated this one:
1. "Cocha noc, swieta noc,
2. Wszystka spi, atoli

Study / Peruvian in Poland. Do I get any benefits as a student? [8]

It does not work this way in North America. You may have a legal right to live in Canada, but if you are not a Canadian citizen and want to travel to USA you need a visa.

Most likely its the same in Europe.

Study / Peruvian in Poland. Do I get any benefits as a student? [8]

i get some benefits with this schengen stuff.

Since you are not a citizen of Poland I would imagine that you will not be able to travel freely throughout the EU with just a karta pobytu.

His sole purpose is to post derogatory/insulting stuff about Poland/polish people, so you will not change his/theirs mind.

Agree. Why people even bother to reply to bullies is beyond me.

Language / Polish Suffixes Indicating Relationship [2]

I read that -owa is wife of "insert surname," and -owna is daughter of "insert surname." Are these correct?

Yes it is correct, but as I said before it is somewhat old fashioned. Also, it only works with some surnames, never with the ones ending with -ski/ska or -cki/cka.

You can pretty much always use -owa and -ówna for the surnames ending with -ewicz and other endings.
Examples:

surname / surname+owa / surname+ówna

Karp / Karpowa / Karpówna
Śledź / Śledziowa / Śledziówna
Kowal / Kowalowa / Kowalówna
Gaca / Gacowa / Gacówna
Koach / Koachowa / Koachówna
and so on. Personally I would stick to the original surname.
