Life / Questions about Lublin [39]

Really? I never knew that. I've been there quite a few times but have never heard an English voice

well, this is what it used to be back in 2004 at least, all I can say

Dave Poyton yes I know him and have known him for eight years TBH I wish I didn't, he is a sad old fart that stands in a nightclub lurching over women.

yes, he's chasing young women like hell, probably the only reason for him to live in Poland :-)

What about the week days, weekends I'm in Leczna with my girlfriend, but Monday - friday I'm around Lublin!

basically those two days are the only ones worth coming to Lublin and mainly to the Irish Pub the rest ain't that great but you better pay by delivery at "U Szewca" we got shitted quite a few times over there

LOL, it sounds like you're talking about Andrzejewska school, right?
She's a freaking dragon, lol

U Szewca Irish Pub in Old Town then you probably know Dave (English guy in his 50') he's always there on the weekend.

Do you guys only meet at the weekends, what about during the week?

during the week the "native speakers" meet at the "Alternatywa" in the Chopina Str.

News / I love Poland because... (in 10 words or less) [182]

I love Poland because..........(in 10 words or less)

I don't know how you guys feel about that but for non-Poles it's more like "I like Poland (or any other country but my own) because........." but it's just my opinion and if someone can love some other country but his own, it's fine with me :-)

for its amazing castles, mountains, lakes and forests

it sounds like Europe in general :-)

Life / Questions about Lublin [39]

Is it difficult to find work as an English teacher?

not really but you gotta watch yourself, some of them don't like to pay. You might be running behind your money. Don't work for British School in Lublin!!! Transportation is OK during the day but not late at night.

What are the best schools to work at and what is the average price per teaching hour to charge?
What are the people like?

They don't pay really much, it's between 35-55zl/h. The highest pay I had was in Krasnik (about 45min. away from Lublin). The schools name was Signum but the management wasn't very professional, lol. They paid me 50zl. in Swidnik (some little school I forgot the name of it).

Don't work for anyone in Siedlce either. If you need more info, give me a buzz.
Have a good 1

some Polish women know how to enjoy their lives and yes it seems like they're very easy going but then again, what's wrong with it? We all have fun :-)

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy

because many dumbarses here

what are you saying? I know you don't live in the US so who are you talking about?

this kind of attitude will sink america even further.

what kinda attitude?

that is not travelling. doesn't count, sorry.

I didn't say it was travelling, I said it was fun

yes, that is where dogs and cats live. my bed or couch is definitely NOT the doghouse.

basically you said what I said about Poles and animals

Eurola:
And they dare to call Americans lazy

ok, less efficient then :P :D

is that why Poland achieved soooo much in the last thousand years?

pgtx:

This whole thread is stupid and it's typical anti-american bs you'll find on the PF's.

let's make the best out of it brother :-)

much

you're right about that, it's been much more in some other threads,

am I missing the point?

all I'm saying shari is that I'm making differences from case to case and that what I said wasn't a one way street. If I meant all Americans love animals I wouldn't point out any other possibilities. Thank you for showing me respect and coming back with your question even tho it took a little longer than expected but better late than never, :-)

in the first place

we can still talk about where and when, it's up to you hun :-)

and the moral of it is ....let's b*tch all the time, right? lol

and now I really agree with you pgtx. It's a same like with this forum, it could be so interesting and funny if not the mods playing God all the time and constantly removing my posts to the random. I wonder how long is it gonna take them to kick this one out too, lol

American food - no real flavor
Polish food - 100% natural flavor

was based on my experience...

:)

that's ok freebird, your point of view is the same as many Americans i have talked to... Americans don't take the criticism well...

well look I lived in Poland between Oct.2003 and June 2007 my statement is based on my experience, how about that? :-)

Exactly. I don't know anybody in Poland doing that. Complaining about a low paying job - yes, but working more? No.
Not to mention all the crap with a month of vacation when starting a new job and all multiple holidays!
This goes for the whole Europe actually, not only Poland. And they dare to call Americans lazy. Kiss my a**.

you know, I don't mind criticism at all as long as it's based on facts and not someones opinion. I don't expect everyone to like us but at least before they talk crap about us, come here first, live for a while and then make a comment and if I see it's based on reality I won't b*tch at all.

Look at how many unwanted animals there are in the US? I would say it's a half truth at best.

if we (don't say everyone) are not then who the hell is..........nobody. Read my previous post above and this is not a lie, I saw it with my own eyes. I can tell you only this much, our pets, in general are much better off in most of cases than Polish. I was buying cat and dog food and was feeding those poor creatures coming up daily to my house in Mikolajki.

pet overpopulation problem

well, this is true, we have pet overpopulation problem but it doesn't mean we don't like animals, right HB?

Have you ever visited Poland HB? I've never seen so many dogs and cats straying around. The ones that had a house, lived almost always outside.

Read your history.

our history is telling us, our country achieved more in 233 years than yours in more than a 1000. Now you come with all the immigrants from all over the World and also from Poland who created our country, well they obviously didn't love their countries enough to stay in them. A real patriot stays in his country no matter in good or bad times.

And what do chemically processed foods lead to? A healthier lifestyle? A slimmer waistline? What are the leading causes of death in the U.S.? How does what you ingest contribute to that? And the new fad of 'organic' that so many businesses are capitalizing on? Read the rules on what the USDA determines as receiving an organic seal.

obviously our food is not the best in the World but our average life expectation is not worse than yours so what is there to bi**h about.

We're talking about feeding 300mln. people and not 40mln.

Name the items that America beat Poland on?

any whiskey we make is better than yours mainly because you ain't got much to compete with, our wine is getting better from year to year and is well known around the World

just check out this site

bartonbrands.com/export/american_spirits.html

Have you examined the trade deficit? What does that imply?

of course we have our problems but a huge country like ours with 300mln. will come out of it quicker than you think. If you expect us to go down, good luck man, you'll go down way before us, whether you like it or not. More people more taxes.

The rest of the worlddoesn't share the sentiment.

western Europeans like animals too, this is what I have experienced on my own so I guess Poland and some eastern Europeans are the rest of the World

My experience has been otherwise.

I lived in Poland for 4 years and I know exactly how you guys work and I know how we work but why even discuss it here, it's known facts that you can find out about from any person who really lives or lived in the US. Most of Americans are working their a**es off working two or even more jobs.

The majority of Americans have never left the soil. I have 2 American friends that have traveled the world, but they did it in the Armed Forces, which is not the same as traveling for pleasure.

It's true that many Americans love their country so much that they don't like to travel to avoid disappointments but believe me, the ones that travel make it up for the rest of us :-)

When I was in the Armed Forces I was stationed in Ramstein, Germany. Believe me we had lots of fun there :-)

You're saying America has no animal cruelty? that's rubbish. America expresses a lot of animal-cruelty/abuse. Cruelty of any kind exists everywhere - no country, nation, state etc. is immune.

when did I say it? in general we do treat animals better than you guys but obviously not always. We even have animal cops who take care of neglected animals cases

Food

American food - maybe processed but it doesn't make us live any shorter than you guys and it's a matter of taste to begin with

Polish food - some of it taste good but it's based on fat

Alcohol

America beat you on everything else but beer and vodka which this is a matter of taste too. I don't know about Chicago but where I live Polish products don't sell good at all

'Pets'

Americans love animals but in the families with children they don't treat them better than kids
Poles - majority of you treat animals like crap so what's good about that

Work Ethic

Americans - work even two jobs if needed
Poles- lazy a**es unles working abroad for a good cash and even then only some of you really do the right job

Travel

Americans - lol, I've been to 42 countries, how many have you visited

Poles- travel to work at least 95% of you anyway
