UK, Ireland / Modern Plantation for Poles in Ireland [352]

Sinn Fein is dead in the south.

I will tell that to my local sinn fein councillor who was elected to the local council as a first time candidate and the first sinn fein councillor to be elected to the town council since the 1950's. Sounds like we are in decline alright.

We are the only 32 county party in Ireland, building the party in the south of the island will take time.....it was not so long ago we were a minoirty party in the north....things change.

Your beloved parties support for mass immigration has caused it to slump and die in the south. Sinn Fein Brits Out Poles In!

Go pick the dingle berries of the hairs on the shuck of my arse.

Sinn Fein are alive and well in the south and are seen as the most hard working political activists on this island.

As for your point about the Brits dividing all of the countries they "invaded" by religion

They divided and conquered. In Irelands case it was division by religion. I did not state they divided by religion in every country they invaded.

Tell me, Ireland32, do you feel there to be a major difference between a Protestant and a Catholic?

Seanus, i live in the north for most my life up until 6 years ago. I lived in a catholic area, went to a catholic school, went to mass, catholic bars, clubs etc. That was the divide. Each to their own. If a stranger walked in you looked at them. When you walked down the street you looked over your shoulder. When you went to work you wondered was someone a protestant or catholic because at this point the divide broke.

when I came to the south its the last thing on your mind. none of the above even come into play. You do not question religion or the beliefs of your neighbour or friend. That is why I will never live in north again. the mind set will never change up there.

The M50 was built before 2005. Seriously, the Irish as a hard working as anybody.

I was on it yesterday. Its undergoing construction into 3 lanes over the last 2 years.

Was never about religion? That's not true, it played a large part as your identification with a group was an identification with a religious denomination. Look at the Protestant Orangemen march. If it wasn't about religion, why did so many object?

Purely a symptom of the conflict Seanus and you know that. These objections came long after the poisonous seeds were planted in the mind and still to this day have not been decommissioned.

The struggle in Ireland was the love of the land, the country, self identity....religion was never it...sure look at the flag and its meaning !

Mass Immigration from eastern europe started in 2005. The Celtic Tiger started in 1996. To link the two is absurd. The Poles came because of the boom, they had no involvement in creating it.

Sinn Feiners: Brits Out Poles In!

I dont give 2 flying fecks when they came....look out your window. Look around you. When Paddy was lying in his bed scratching his ball bag, these people built the infrastructure that allows me to get to Dublin in 55 minutes.

Go play a game of tig on the M50 will ya.

Sounds very sensible to me, but I bet there are some people in Ireland
who would debate the "regardless of religion or culture" bit.

The struggle in Ireland was never about religion. It is about reunification of the island.....the land that was taken from us by the British establishment. It was that same establishment that done what they did in every country they invaded....divide (through religion) and conquer. Unfortunately they suceeded and thus the sectarian divide was created. Heaveb forbid they might have let us live side by side.....we might have actually liked each other !!

Indeed, not for eastern europeans or 3rd worlders. Ireland for the Irish.

Do not misquote me....An Irish Republic built by the people for the people........thankyou to the skills of many non Irish tradesmen who have help us on our way.....and for bringing us out of the 3rd world.

are not worthy to live among "the great Irish nation

Freedom, Justice, Peace & Equality. These are the foundations from which the Irish Republic was built. Equality for all the citizens of the Republic regardless of religion or culture but with one common goal. A Republic built by the people for the people.

If thats what you are into work away. I am happy enough with my Galway girl.

So was the rugby team on Saturday night lol.....

Ah lighten up will you for god sake. There is a more realistic chance of a United Ireland (and thats a while away) than a Polish Plantation.

My concern is about the number of Poles settling here. The definition of a plantation is as follows,An original settlement in a new country; a colony. That is what the Poles are doing in Ireland.

So what of the Chinese, Pakistans, Indians etc. when do you anticipate they will have their colonies or planty thingys up and running.

Should we start having sexual relationships with our relatives in an effort to breed all these folk out.

If you go to work in a foreign country, you should at least have a decency
to learn how to speak their language. Simple as that.

I agree with you but for most people who have english as a first language....when we go to a foreign country......we expect the people to speak and understand english as the international language.

Do you think this is right? I personally think it is good manners to have a basic knowledge of the language of the host country to which we visit.

I DO NOT support the request of making Polish
the official language in Ireland

Think you mean the third official language.

As far as I know they have'nt burned us out of our homes, raped our women, stole our land and made us pay rent for the homes we built.

Yeah they have some shops. Good on them. If they work hard and contribute, pay there rates, taxes etc then more power to them. There are irish bars all over the world. Arent you being a bit of a hypocrite here.

What about the Chinese. There are more chinese takeaways in Ireland than Polish shops. There are more Pakistani clothes shops in Ireland than Polish shops in Ireland.

what is your point?

The dole is something like £40 in the north, People on the border and other areas is working in the north and claiming the dole in the south and vice versa but you are not complainting about that

I do not agree with any form of benefit fraud that empies the purses that the tax payer filled. I would like to make that very clear Deano.

the only peoples fault ireland is in such a state is the government

Go to the top of the class Deano..... another man who enjoys hitting nails on the head.

Governments make the decisions. People put them into power, well at least those who choose to vote (something again we fought dearly for). Be careful who you vote for but always vote....... nothing more hypocritical than someone who doesnt vote and then complains about the governement running the country.

Vote early and vote often !!

The one thing that you seem to miss is that Poles are in Ireland legaly and are receiving
all the benefits that they are entitled to according to the Irish law.

Congratulations Torq on hitting the nail firmly on the head. The Poles are doing nothing wrong. It is the system that is wrong. Benefits in Ireland are too high even in comparison to the north of Ireland. If I had a choice.......250 euro a week on dole in Ireland......Id stay too.

Case closed. Sack the government, burn the flag, mobilise the people and let anarchy prevail.

but the provies came knocking on your door that would be your fault

We only knock on peoples doors now to ask them to vote Sinn Fein.

Calm down Deano. I do not necessarily agree with everything that RevokeNice has to say but he is entitled to debate his thread.

Exactly. It has been an ideal location for their companies because you have been
an EU member. All that investment from America and Europe came to your country
because you have been in the common trade area with a huge EU market.

Those same companies moved on when the money dried up and you know that. They go where the funding is, bleed it dry and move onto the next countries joining the EU.

They exploit the opportunities offered by EU and leave white elephants behind them whilst taking advantage of tax loop holes along the way.

The Irish weren't complaining when they were milking the EU and getting
huge benefits for years. Now, when they have to share some of their wealth
they seem to think that it's not fair.

It was foreign investment. The EU and America seen Ireland as an ideal location for their companies....and so EU funding flooded in to create the many factories and offices for these companies creating jobs. Where are they now? and more to the point where is the wealth you talk about?

well you see some have started a new life here, bought everything for there houses, bought cars, maybe even bought houses here, Alot of things would make them stay, next pointer alot have paid there taxes and have a right to claim it.

again you are misquoting me.......these are people who have fully intergrated into society as a whole and have made their roots here. Fair play to them.

Oh is he gosh....oh I better stick my finger in my eye so !!

For the record I am on here stating my opinions and views. I employ quite alot of polish workers at my factory, most of whom I have high regard for as I have said on other threads. I have no issue with any culture or nationality residing in this country, working and contributing to society and the economy. My point was that why stay when the work dry's up? If they are here to provide for families back home and mortgages then what is the benefit of staying when their income ceases?

You didnt reply to my comment about the shopping

your bud big Ian Never

I did not reply to your ludicrous comments on this thread as you do not seem to have grasped by previous comments.

1. I support the spending of money in the country I live in - Ireland (26 counties). My reason is to allow the economy to grow and for the spending to generate jobs in this country.

2. I am a member of Sinn Fein (none of which are armchair patriots).

3. Why would Ian Paisley be my buddy?
