History / The Poms who stood by the Poles in WW2 [156]

Thanks Harry. To be honest, it looks like a lot of Ambroses factual writings have been queried.

Just realised there was a lengthy thread on the subject on these forums already.

Another good source are the discussions on this forum Poland Axis history.

There is enough on the Axis forum to keep Bratwurst Boy going for months :-)

Law / Poland selling Carbon Credits [16]

I am getting worried now.
I have now learned about carbon credits and that people have to pay for damage to the environment.

I have also learned that methane can be bad for the environment.

My problem is I have had a chicken enchilada for my dinner and it was on the spicy side.

Coupled with the anxiety worrying about the environment and , well, I think you can see where this is going......

Anyone got any spare methane credits ?

Law / Poland selling Carbon Credits [16]

I didnt pay much attention to the Kyoto agreement but it looks like just about everyone agreed to a cap apart from USA and China.

Given that it all goes in to the earths atmosphere - isn't it all a bit pointless ?

And can anyone explain it in terms I can understand ?

Law / Poland selling Carbon Credits [16]

Poland is to sell 15 million euros' (22 million dollars) worth of carbon credits to Ireland, the Polish environment minister said Saturday.

uk.news.yahoo/18/20091121/tsc-poland-to-sell-ireland-15-million-eu -b1f5339.html Todays News

What is a carbon credit ?Madness

Is Poland pulling a fast one due to its reliance on coal fired energy ??

Or is this a reward for moving away from polluting processes.

I'm sure its a good thing but it just doesn't make sense to me.

UK, Ireland / English tossers give Brits a bad name in Poland [139]

I have to admit that I take my holidays in places where there are few Brits around.

It was one of the reasons I liked taking holidays in Poland

Food / Polish Fruit Juice used to mix with beer [6]

I'm doing a project for college and wanted to know how much a few juices in Poland cost.

Just go to tesco.pl and have a look.

The thing about gaining knowledge is, its the learning that takes place on the journey there that is important.

UK, Ireland / I'm turning nationalistic. Want to change my views. [14]

James, something tells me you'll not be back to see the replies on this thread...

It always raises suspicion when somebodies first post is to express a strong opinion which may cause offence.

He claims he is from Scotland and his interests are "Flood"?

Idiots who can't control themselves exist in all countries.

Would you say that some countries behave better than others when abroad ?

Thats the basis of my argument.

Law / Street performing (music) in Poland... permit needed? [14]

Street musicians in Poland are of a very high standard. Its not unusual to see a chamber quartet playing on the street.

A Polish friend told me they were licensed but I dont know how they are regulated.

Chimney Sweep is a popular ( whatever the name is for people that stand still like statues ).

Jews

Dont mention the Jews !!!!

As for Scotland Vs England

Its not about conflict - its about recognising that there are cultural differences anbd that there are different patterns of behaviour.

more laddish than Polish guys.

Thats one example.

I'm saying the English culture encourages this behaviour and needs to change.

personal beef with the English that is obvious,

How so ? There are plenty of people in the FA and in Westminster Palace that would say the same about the countrys ( Englands) culture towards boorish behaviour. Have they a personal beef with the English ? - please validate your statement with refs.

You have a personal beef with the English that is obvious, what it is only you know.

The guys were not English and were not idiots ?

Like they do at Hampden?

I am accepting that different cultures have different beliefs.
In comparison to South Korea I believe that Scotland can learn from them in their approach to public sporting events.
Can England not learn too ?

You have a personal beef with the English that is obvious,

English idiots that throw pigeons about - yes.

If I was an English person addressing this question - would your attitude be different ?

Stiil stands

"English idiots convicted of tossing pigeons in Krakow are giving all visitors from Britain a bad name" - just isn't as snappy.

Total shite.

Thats an informative response - can you expand on it ?

ake the last world cup the English were well down the league table of arrests and they had a huge following over there.

Link?

The Spanish game wasn't the issue.

The issue is the same as in several posts before.

szkotja2007:
The point is that English culture encourages this behaviour more so than others.

Total shite.

So South Koreas culture towards football is no different to Englands ?

I think we both know that England fans aint going to be picking up litter at Wemberley any time soon.

To me, English louts are the same as Scottish, Welsh, Irish or any other Country abroad louts.

Absolutely, we have clarified that point and are in agreement.

The point is that English culture encourages this behaviour more so than others.

Again - I am not hearing anything to the contrary.

Maybe it's because England's population out numbers

Perhaps for the general population that may be true. But without robust statistics how can we tell ?
If we wanted evidence your statement we would need a control group.
One example we could take as a control group would be football fans.

For example we would expect the same arrests at a game containing 50 000 English footie fans as we would 50 000 French , German, Norwegian fans ?

Retrospection informs us that this is not the case.

There are good and bad in every country.

I have made that point in several posts in this thread.

What I am saying is that

this type of boorish behaviour abroad is more prevalent in the English culture

.

Or are you saying that all countries cultures are the same ?

I'll polarise the issue to make a point -

South Korea vs Spain - could be Policed by babcias.

England vs Spain ?

there is evidence to the contrary.

Of course Scotland has idiots abroad, its just that by comparison..............

Edit - re Aberdeen fans - they can be rough at times in Scotland too - they roasted a sheep on the train after a game.

You wouldn't

My views are based on my observations.
I haven't heard a coherant argument to change my viewpoint, ergo, my views are reinforced.

Unless you think there another reason ?

Same actions one percieved bad the other as good,

Based on the fact that the English have a worse reputation abroad, based on their behaviour, than say, the Scots or the Welsh.
However, these idiots are consistently being reported as being British - hence the title of the thread.

Rubbish, it's just as prevelant in the Scottish culture.

I dont believe it is.

Isnt that what this thread is all about?

Its about the English culture and their behaviour abroad.

Different nationalities have different national traits, some positive, some negative.

my point is that the English culture encourages this type of behaviour more so than other national cultures.

You're really getting boring.

Repetative, I would agree with.

as if to say that's ok then.

And why do you think that is, what informs their opinion ?

a pargon

I think the word you are looking for is paradox.

The Old Firm and their bigotry are the shame of Scotland. Generally their fans do not go to Scotland games as they would prefer to support England or Ireland.

How do you mean,

I mean that this type of boorish behaviour abroad is more prevalent in the English culture and .......wait a minute.......am I repeating myself ?

an someone shed some light on this for me?

Scant details but its widely reported as two Brits tossing pigeons in Krakows main square. The stunned pigeons were thrown at force and could not open their wings. Their wings were either broken or the pigeons died.

I suppose that in the English culture thats all it may be seen as.

Different nationalities have different national traits, some positive, some negative.

As an example - a negative aspect of Scots or Irish culture is the role that alcohol plays within it.

I'm simply saying that a negative aspect of the English culture is that it encourages this type of behaviour abroad.

There are racial attacks on English in Scotland, thats true. There are also racial attacks on other ethnic minorities too. I am not denying that.

Again, my point is that the English culture encourages this type of behaviour more so than other national cultures.

It says nothing about them other than that they are polish

They were English - keep up there at the back !

over-run would have been a bit closer to the truth

I was referring to your Prime Minister, Chancellor of your Exchequer etc....all Scottish.

As for Rangers....my mate won the lottery and was thinking of buying Glasgow Rangers...........just imagine what he would have done if he got four numbers !!!

time means

Congrats - Two quotes from the Daily Mail and a 3 year old ref to the BBC.....and your point is ?

If you are trying to turn this into a Scots vs English thread then good luck to you but count me out.

My point is that English seem particularly predisposed to behaving in this manner as opposed to other nations.

Scottish *******

What ??? Nobody in England masturbates ???

The English psyche abroad is different to that of the other "home" nations. This is evidenced by travelling football fans etc.
Yes, there are idiots in all countries but English culture seems to encourage this type of person.
Unfortunately, some foreigners cannot distinguish between English and British and all are tarrred by the same brush.

Scotland fans in PoznaƄ a few years ago. Just plain macabre.

You should have been at Hampden when Shuggie dropped a ten bob bit - the riot police had to be called out.

we have the same problems with other nationalities here in the U

Shelly - your country is being run by non elected foreigners, economic migrants - but its OK, we dont want them back.

Pigeons taste good though.

In my town its seagulls that are a menace - but you cant shoot them because they are protected.

( Not that shooting anything in town is a good idea )
