It is estimated that about 3000 Tatars live in present-day Poland, of which about 500 declared Tatar (rather than Polish) nationality in the 2002 census.

Istahu with your ideas is like with communism, it would be great if everybody were so idealistic like you are.

Unfortunately there are people like you, there are people like Shelley and like me ;)
in every society. So that is why communism is one of the worst systems.

I observe UK with curiousity, how long you will make concessions, benefits for second wifes, mosiques in areas where is no musilms (near olimpic stadium in London) why some people want to build it there ? Most of your society is opened minded (lets say more than religous muslims) ... do you see any progres in assimilation of some people ? or it is worst an worst ...

when I read Polish people who live in USA ... unfortunately they are assimilated :( they have only little symphaty for Poland (some hate country they come form ... lets leave them)

I think this is step in good direction :

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_law_on_secularity_and_conspicuous_religious_symbols_in_schools

The French law on secularity and conspicuous religious symbols in schools bans wearing conspicuous religious symbols in French public (i.e. government-operated) primary and secondary schools. The law is an amendment to the French Code of Education that expands principles founded in existing French law, especially the constitutional requirement of laïcité: the separation of state and religious activities.

I am not talking about Jews ... I just wanted to signalise something ...
Ok todays Jews are much different than it the past ... they were expeled form England, Germany, Spain ... finaly were in Poland and called this country Jewish paradise (yes Poland for hundrets years was called Jewish paradise) most of them didn't assimilated because of their religion/culture. Germans or Russians assimilated in easier way. Todays Jews learned a lot and we learned a lot how to behave in this case.

Do you have pubs where not for british in UK ? Get used to it because as long as religion is important for muslims in your country big part of their society will not assimilate. Jews started to assimilate in 20 century when some of them realized that religion is not the most important thing in their life. Holocaust was made by Germans, form the other hand there were people before WWII who wanted to send orthodox Jews from Poland to Palestine, there were shops only for Jews ... and you ShelleyS would like to send musilms somwere ... In my opinion you should fight against religion (in sophisticated way ... I think EU does a lot of good job in this case) or get used that there will be parts of your towns where europeans will not be tolerated ...

It is legal for girl to fuk for money. It is illigal for 3rd person to take profits form this activity (pimps are illegal). So small "busineses" are prefered by Polish law.

I feel that climate changes, and it will be easier to achieve what you want. As I said before, durring communism it was imposilbe to defend our reputation, now we have started to do so and there are some results ... I think in Warszawa you are going to have equal access.

as to situation in US I find it as discrimination ... archievs only for Jewish victims no access for non-Jewish victims. Maybe they are so woried because they have taken compensation form Germans for all vicitms ... when we have been under Soviet occupation. Instead of taking compensations for 3 mln Polish JEWSIH victims they have taken for 6 mln Polish citizens ... so you know ... money are on table ...

The International Tracing Service of the International Committee of the Red Cross said Tuesday that it had handed over a third round of documents to the Yad Vashem Memorial in Jerusalem, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington and the Warsaw-based National Institute of Remembrance.

News / Polish Japanese relations (history and present time) [90]

I have text in Polish (form Polish embassy website)

tokio.polemb.net

First contacts:

1585, when Poland was Global player and Japan was before isolation ...

1892 - 1919

First contacts, Japanese had problems with Russians, so they started to cooperate with Poles who wanted to be independent ...

Pilsudski and Dmowski visited Japan ...

1919 - 1945

Japanese were helping Poles escaping from Syberia and were providing help for them ...

(only in Polish :( form Japanese embassy website)

Poles honored Japanese soldiers who flighted in war against Russia in 1905 ...

During WWII Japanese were cooperating in espionage with Poles (against Russians and !!!GERMANS!!!) helped to save 6000 Polish jews and were providing help for Polish resistance. Durring WWII Polish priests could freely contune their activity in Japan.

here is nice article (in english) about some aspects of this cooperation (there was much more facts than in this article, I will try to find something in english).

tiu.ac.jp/~bduell/ASJ/3-95_lecture_summary.html

One of these was Lt. Leszek Daszkiewicz, and he established contact with Capt. Alfons Jakubianiec in Kaunas. Meanwhile, with the completion of the German and Soviet occupation of Poland, thousands of refugees poured into Lithuania. However, the Polish legation in Kaunas closed down in protest against the handing over of Polish territory around Vilnius to Lithuania, and it was left to the British and French representatives to look after the refugees. In this they were helped by the Polish intelligence service, who soon extended their cooperation to the newly opened Japanese consulate in Kaunas, and in particular to the Vice-Consul, Sugihara Chiune.

to be continued ...

It is really hard to find some informations in English, most of articles are in Japanese or Polish. Now I will show something about present realtions.

don't maniupulate, you don't know the facts ... we cooperated in case of Russia ... not US. and it was before WWII. Japanise cultre is much different and durring WWII they decided to help for Poles even nobody asked them to do it (it was about honor)

I knew that Molotov-Ribbentrop's pact was just our protective measure

we were cooperating with them to survive ...

Poland is in ally with China? Heh, Are you kidding? Do you still engage in espionage, now in favour of China?

no we are not, we are in much different alinace ... I just have noticed one aspect of Polish - Chinese relations ...

News / China to buy 150 helicopters from Poland [47]

traditionaly we had always good relations with countries like Japan or China, just because of Russia. Before WWII Poland cooperated with Japanise, especialy when in espinotage in Russia. Durring WWII Japanise abassy even they were offcialy German ally, supported Polish Home army. Chinese as I know symphatize with Poland (they see our relations with neighbours simillar to Chinese-Japanise realtions) as I know Chinese decided to make their "european business base" in Poland and they like Polish products just because they see us as their natural ally in case of Russia. There is one problem ... TYBET!

going back to subject, It is good deal for Poland.

History / Museum of the history of Polish Jews [29]

As far as Russia I feel they have been able to avoid dealing with the past by ruling the people and not letting the truth be spoken. "Katyn" was just part of the full story. IMO it is this part of history that needs to set history straight. I do not feel Ukraine could have carried out the killing without "Soviets" clearing the path.

Situation on Ukraine durring WWII was complicated. When you look "who was who" there you will notice that Poles were living in towns or were owners of land in vilages. Jews were living in towns or were working for Poles with noble ancestors (Jews were collecting taxes, and working in finance) Ukrainians in western ukraine were lauborers or small farmers. When Germans appeared some Ukrainians noticed that it is the best opportunity to become "owners". Genraly there was more or less like that: Poles and Jews against Ukrianians and Germans. Fightings between Polish resistance and Ukrainians and Germans was something normal. Later when Soviets smashed the Germans, commies told for Poles that this houses are not their anymore and they have 1 hour to leave and that Poland is on west ... so Soviets were "bad" but Ukrianian nationalists were worst ...

I don't know situation in US.

Since 1989 it is becoming more of an issue. Any thoughts?

We have dialogue with Russia in this case, Katyn is presented in Russia and their newspapers started to write. "It was as it was ..." Ukraine is more complicated ... we all know that Ukrainian nationalists were first to kill Poles ... not Ukrainian commies ... I think they are not ready for discussion and their reactions are very strange ...

95 % of Polish society want to move forward, only one thing we want is show true history.
Lukasz

Normaly, as it was. I feel that Jewish society accepted our version of history (I am after lecture of some discussions on Jewish websites and I see some facts like this museum). I think your ideas about adding to Holocaust museum in US part about non Jewish victims is possible.

joepilsudski

I understand your point of view, I don't think you are right with your posts about somebody runing this world ... Even if you are right, I don't care Poland isn't pretnender to govern this world. We don't care, it is american problem that they go on wars which are not in their business. Personaly as long as it isn't problem for Poland I don't care if Jews, Americans, Chinese or rich people lead our world. All I want is to show history of my country in true light, and make life in Poland more comfortable. I feel Poland should help for poorer countries and support domocracy when it is possible. This museum form Polish point of view is OK ... I don't care who pays for it (on list there is a lot of Polish companies/organisations) Maybe this time we have the same business as people you mentioned.

as to your whole activity here (on PF) I doubt you are right ... even of you are right I don't care, we have different aims, we want to have life on the same level as people in USA or UK (even if you are governed by somebody sic!)

Why not Catholicmuseums of Holocaust victims?

We all know that in Poland 6 mln people were killed 3 mln Jews 3 mln of other religion ...

This musem is Polish-Jewish project ... and I think that people interested about Polish-Jewish relations should visit not only German Concentration Camps ... so this project is positive ...

as to your idea about showing victims I partly share your point of view personaly I don't like playing victim card, I think it is needed to show the facts which have been falsed when we were part of commie world ... when we have been wests enemies (we wanted or not the fact is that we had to be silent), in this times history have been falsed. Now we hear about 10 000 collaborants not about 3 mln Polish people killed in concentration camps (about 3 mln Polish Jews we hear all the time) ...

I have been steptical about Polish Jews museum, when I have seen the project and the idea it looks much better.

Ok we have very interesting discussions here ... about Jews and so on.

Reality in Poland looks much diferent. Jews in Poland is 1000 years history. Reality of our relationships looks much diferent than on this forum. as to your pictures ... I don't know if Holocaust organised by Germans and Concentration camps runed only by Germans, are the best idea to show all aspects of Polish - Jewish relations... not only German-Jewish relations...

read link I have posted, Polish Jews have made it clear, why this musem is needed ...
