Work / Polish lessons, how much should I ask? [20]

She didn't teach using websites. You have to assess the students for yourself and tailor lessons according to their interests and abilities.

Do I have any advice? Hmm...English is more my forte. Truth be told, I think your judgement, coupled with your natural knowledge of Polish, puts you in a better position to select good websites.

I'm not quite at that level of Polish where I can evaluate websites. Trust your instinct, Wyspi :)

You are welcome. She got that in Peterborough. No doubt, some people will try to drive down the wages due to the financial crisis. Still, make your case for more. Polish is becoming more sought after. Still, I'd do some practising first as Polish isn't the easiest language to explain to people, especially novices.

Hey there Wyspi, you can get as much as 25 pounds an hour but the hours may be few and far between. My fiancee got 20 pounds in hand, not bad at all. It's good to couple this with another job as many people do.

Good luck :)

History / Polish Anti-semitism - origins? [186]

jewsagainstzionism.com/slideshow/2006Nov9nyc.cfm, maybe you are right but not completely.

Why do Jews milk America when their dream is to return to their homeland?

Life / How do Poles feel about non whites/non Slavs living in Poland? [150]

I've met many great black people in my time. However, many live in social depravity. They cannot escape the poverty trap which is compounded by multiple births. Other factors like drug use exacerbate their predicament.

Not having many other races in Poland ensures some kind of novelty factor when you finally see them. Obviously, this is particularly salient when we are talking about smaller areas.

Study / Looking for English Language schools in Katowice [48]

Callan is for shits and giggles sometimes. There is some grammar which has to be presented concisely so the skill of taking a hefty chunk and showing its operation in succinct fashion is one which must be learned.

Callan is a tempo method, others are timing methods where you try and stick to the alloted time. However, you have to use your judgement. In SU, some of the prescribed times are wide of the mark. I have spent 40 mins on a task which methodologists gave 10 mins for. It just depends if you want to roll with it or be over stiff. I prefer the latitude approach, teaching it until it's satisfactorily understood.

I feel that Callan just glosses over things as the teachers condition themselves that faster is better. Quantity not quality. They try to cover many more new pages, even though they could just skip some material anyway. In my last month there, I made a mockery of the process by cutting straight to new work and flying through it, averaging about 12 pages, LOL. Did I care? No

Strictly speaking, it is as you are teaching the use of words but I know what you mean. I feel much more of a teacher at my 2 other schools.

Prep time for Britam is longer as they expect more which is fine by me. Lessons at SU are pre-planned but I can always draft an idea or 2 of my own in to enrich the lesson.

History / Polish Anti-semitism - origins? [186]

Even in the last Gaza crisis, yehudi, there were anti-Zionist marches in America which were conducted by Judaists (Rabbis). There are fight videos on Youtube if you care to have a look.

associatedcontent.com/article/844663/why_usa_should_reject_the_zionists_pg3.html

The Zionists have a political agenda whereas the Judaists keep the faith alive.

UK, Ireland / Danio (vanilla) yoghurt on UK market - help!!!! [25]

That was well written. The cheers at the end was the best part.

I'm sure we have Danone products in the UK, 100%. I used to eat their yoghurts. The former sponsors of Juventus FC btw.

As I said, check the Polish places.

Where are you exactly, nikttaki? You mentioned Dundee. My fiancee was there and she found Polish shops. 2 for sure and possibly 3 shops.

Hunt down your nearest deli, make a day trip somewhere and shock the shop assistant by buying 50 of them.

I do that with biscuits, 10 packs ;)

Just imagine the taste in your mouth. Sometimes that's all we have. There's A LOT of Asian food I miss that I can get back home (not as good as in Asia of course). There is a dearth of options here.

History / Polish Anti-semitism - origins? [186]

Well, I've been called an anti-Semite for arguing against the Israeli attacks. I said nothing as strong as what I heard above. I was merely adopting a balanced view with leanings towards the Palestinian side.

Go and discuss it with yehudi. He'll be furious with you.

It can still be classed as anti-Semitism.

I'm not gonna write all the vulgarisms but pojebani żydzi should be enough for you to get the picture. That's what I heard.

Please don't ask me for the tape recording, it was off that day ;)

It shouldn't be so hard, I think there are many stockists. Danone products are of international renown. Well, if you exclude Zaire :)

Try Asda or Sainsbury's

History / Polish Anti-semitism - origins? [186]

Well, I live in Poland, Puzzy. I've heard outbursts from numerous sources. Still, it's not the kind of thing you do surveys on. My guess is that the incidence is very low and there is much indifference.

Maybe the alleged Jewish Polonophobia is worse ;) (who knows?)

I've noticed that too, Crnogorac. The bickering between the Judaists and Zionists is fractious/divisive to say the least. I'd maintain that even relative neutrality has been interpreted as anti-Semitic. You have to be completely sympathetic to their cause/plight.

Well, if there are substantiated allegations against him, there should be action taken. It's not a case of leaving the country tho, more boycotting that radio station and censoring him.

Poles didn't protect them?? Eh, Żegota?? Also, helping was punishable by death. When your very survival is at stake, I'm sorry, altruism often goes out the window. Hitler had an absolute vision, no prisoners were to be taken.

Oh, there is still anti-Semitism in Poland, yes. However, as another poster commented elsewhere, the Poles don't think about 'the Jewish issue' often. They'd probably say, 'mi jest obojętny/a'. Or was it obojętne? LOL. Ach aye, nevermind.

In Callan, very few. You'd only really prepare for any business classes or Cambridge courses like FCE and CAE. They guarantee 26 hours a week but it doesn't always work that way.

I worked there for 3 years and was a trainer. Such an easy job.

He even found his way into The Economist as I was trawling their archives. He is just another pathetic specimen under British media. Moyles and Ross are 2 more such prats.

The point is, he is provoking racial hatred which he is not paid to do. Instilling nonsense in people.
