History / The Poms who stood by the Poles in WW2 [156]

A long line of them it would appear. Britain is a traiterous country, full of people who would sell off their grannies for a bit of glory or cash.

It's a sad story all around the world.

On that point you'll hear no disagreement from me. Churchill was a fat oaf of a man, too wrapped up in his own glory. OK, Chamberlain blundered before him with his 'peace in our time' crap but Churchill had great help from the Scots and Poles. Cities like Coventry were blazed and razed.

I'm not so much into the financial side of it ask to specifics.

Well, as they discovered, our RAF had a good deal of bite. I don't think they were too glad to see Spitfires in front of them.

Indebtedness is a known concept in many cultures and they could appear like the knight in shining armour, coming to save the day. Go and study o-kari and how it works and you'll see what I mean.

Hitler was not in full flight when America entered the war. They came in after substantial weakening of their resolve. Payments bring debts with them and debts take different forms ;)

It's obvious where the principal fault lies, with the cowardice of the French throughout the 1930's. For America, it was opportunity knocks and they came out of it pretty well. America did what many great predators do, wait for a timely movement to make their move.

Oh, asides from the obvious madness of Hitler and Stalin of course.

It suited Roosevelt to enter the war though, more money to those arms firms and was gonna lead to the US asserting themselves as the global superpower.

Yeah, the American govt has got the art of divide+conquer down to a tee. There are plenty old newspaper clippings about the bravery of the Poles in WWII.

So that's the main incentive then, money? Please don't tell me they go for cultural reasons. Well, maybe to Scotland ;0 ;)

UK, Ireland / ABERDEEN MEN ADMIT ATTEMPTED MURDER OF POLE... [15]

We don't want any reprisals. Nie chcemy odwetów. We don't want to be scarred by the actions of fools. We took the necessary action and I hope that they feel guilty for what they have done.

UK, Ireland / ABERDEEN MEN ADMIT ATTEMPTED MURDER OF POLE... [15]

It's so important not to make it a national thing. They are simply thugs and thuggery knows no national boundaries. I also ran into such nyaffs and they aren't worth the time of day. I can safely say that the great majority of Scots get on well with Poles. My brother was also subjected to the same treatment and he ran into David McAllister. My brother would have pasted him but he let it ride itself out. I worked in Logie and Middlefield for 3 months and cut grass on Logie Avenue and Persley Crescent. Alexander Drive is just along Great Northern Road, along other semi-dodgy parts called Woodside and Hilton. I've also cycled around there a fair bit and the guy was unlucky. The police have upped their patrols and things have been toned down.

My second university was right beside it but I came from the Bedford side. Merkland on King Street was also close.

I hope justice is served and that that Pole isn't unduly perturbed but an attempt was made on his life and I hope he bounces back.

Alexander Drive, that says it all. My cousin used to live there and he got an Irish bull terrier to feel safe. I can remember the first time I saw that dog, he jumped up at my face but he was friendly.

Stewart, that's a known name in Aberdeen. The McAllisters, the Kinnairds and the Stewarts are much feared in that neck of the woods. It has become safer but sad to see that some still want to preserve its ferocious reputation.

They were targetting Scots long before they were targetting Poles. I was there last century and I can remember seeing a gang coming towards me but I was so stoned that I could barely even make them out ;) They just left me alone, thankfully.

I know the type. Punish them severely I say.

UK, Ireland / Exploiting Polish Workers by the UK businesses [90]

And where are the tangible results of their spending? They rip people off and for what? The AECC hasn't undergone much transformation over the years so little investment there. I can just imagine some Poles labouring away there for peanuts. The Job Centre in Little Belmont Street is a friggin joke. I think some peoples' brains must be grinding to a halt due to the mind-numbing nature of the work.

Life / Wonderful Poland.......but the attitude of Polish people [150]

I don't know about the rest of Poland but there are way too many stuffy old gits here. I'm not gonna pretend to like them. I'm happy that I have only 7 mins to work and that my team are highly cooperative. The dour-faced sod viewing is kept to a minimum. I always get a laugh in a shop. The 'do widzenia' part is really funny :)

They are sharks in Aberdeen City Council. They have been ripping off my mum for years. She is a fully qualified Hatha Yoga teacher and they are just having a laugh by paying her too little. She works across in the Bridge of Don, just behind Tesco in Danestone. She works elsewhere too but that's her main workplace.

This just goes to show that it isn't only Poles that they are fleecing!

The Red Army, yes, but they were enemies so that can only be by default. America tipped the balance in a big way and we'd've been lost without them.

Life / ANYONE CELEBRATE ANDRZEJKI (ST ANDREW'S EVE)? [21]

It's amazing how the Poles see it as their holiday. I told my neighbour that it was from St Andrews and she looked sheepish and maybe even offended. Break with insularity, folks, it's worth it!

They can spend beyond their means more easily in the UK. Ask Mister H, they get offered credit cards galore and leave a mess by people having to chase them up. I got frustrated with my neighbour who spent 400PLN on a friggin electronic toothbrush but she can't even pay her rent, she needs subs. She has kids too so I told her that I wasn't gonna help her out by buying it off of her. Some people just need to think a bit more.

The problem is, they want to be flashier than their neighbour without the means. The globalists would love Poland where people have to plunge into debt unless I am missing sth.

I just can't understand why you wouldn't want to work for a bit less in your home country but have access to your family and all other Polish things.

It's possible but common sense helps you through so many situations these days. She seemed to lack it in abundance. A bit of savvy goes a long way.

The truth is that many Poles let themselves become exploited. They still earn better in the UK and are in such a hurry to leave Poland.

It is important to at least make an effort in a foreign language. I could have meetings in English at my language school but I make it easier for them by conducting them in Polish.

Only for the women? That's BS! I was lucky to find a cool one amongst those other hooked nose, almost nice, always ill, dour-faced moaners. That certainly wasn't in my initial plan to get a woman here. Just because you Polish guys jerk your chain over them, doesn't mean we do too.

No, you learn by an online scamming document which is in widespread circulation. Check Google Video as many others have.

It's nothing less than modified slavery when they start pulling that crap. You enter dangerous territory when you start arbitrarily discussing the worth of any job. The fatcats can throw in an extra 20,000 or even 50,000 quid but those at the lower end can't. That's hardly fair!

People need to see that the logic of doing a job remains the same, assuming the duties are constant (which they are for scaffies). Inflation suggests salary increases and not decreases. They get 18,000 as that is the monetary value which is attached to the job. It is hardly justifiable to swick them out of a few thou through what, a whim?

I'd hate to be at the lower rung of the career ladder in Scotland or the UK in general. Few guarantees and a constant battle.

Nicely said, Ogórki. It was the Americans that really bailed us out and Europe should never forget it!! England fighting for Poland is absurd!

True enough, jonni. They wanted to pull an unprecedented low wage out of the hat, probably sth like I got in 1996 for cutting grass (3.71, then 3.82). Both sides were to blame. Once you take the time to prepare the contract in 2 languages, you can start to fulfil it but too many are just fast, fast, fast. I hate such people.

It was an initial boost to the economy as they worked in sectors that were deficient in Scotland. However, the crisis turned everything on its head and consumers lost confidence. Tourism suffered and it was a domino effect.

I know Scotland and I know that there just aren't enough jobs for everyone that is coming across.

Beats me, lad, beats me. Another bonehead who escaped without even being aware of her EU obligation to procure employment before leaving or have contacts in mind when there to get the ball rolling.

Such idiots are really irresponsible and should not waste peoples' time. Spurious applications should be kicked to the kerb/curb. I can negotiate contracts in Polish with no previous school learning but some of these clowns can't with years of English behind them. Pathetic, feckin pathetic!!
