News / Some Poles burning American flag [299]

It wasn't so easy, nunczka. Have you ever talked face-to-face with Poles who lived through these times? More could have been done perhaps but stiff penalties lay in store for those who got too smart. That was deterrent enough.

UK, Ireland / no anti english comments please [48]

I guess he meant comments in England more. I haven't seen too many anti-English statements either. Just tit-for-tat stuff with a pack mentality.

I see what englander is saying. It is like a contract, you should know what you are getting yourself into. You win no friends by dissing everything.

Well, there is freedom of speech but it's good not to diss your host country too openly.

Travel / Katowice night life for 22-28 year olds. [11]

It's just a matter of preference. Katowice doesn't even get close to Glasgow in my eyes but each to their own. Maybe you are factoring in the eye candy element ;)

Katowice night life is an oxymoron. One of the worst cities ever for nightlife. The only nightlife is that which can be seen swinging from the trees.

News / Poland..wake up to a multicultural world [1059]

Nothing like exclusionist policies ;) The caveat should be issued though, when you open the floodgates the tide gets to be like a tsunami.

Racial purity, I've heard that somewhere before but can't put my finger on it ;) ;)

You can tell me Castanea, OKKK?

News / Poland..wake up to a multicultural world [1059]

Cultures just won't mingle and merge, Randal. This is what makes us different. Look at the EU, a broad spectrum of cultures yet semi-cohesive governance in many areas. Peaceful coexistence is the way forward.

Who or what did you have in mind, which forces? America has always been fairly multicultural anyway. What foreign cultures would you object to, Randal?

HB, I know and God Bless for that.

Cool Moon, I rue the day doesn't mean it's a realistic prospect :)

Randal, right on! It's like Sharia Law in the UK. We were good enough to grant Muslims freedom of religion but we don't practise extended courtesy. We have our boundaries.

I agree, Randal. Peaceful coexistence until you cross that line of decency and into my domain. This is idealistic PC BS that we could do without. I rue the day when dog hits menus here. The Poles have too much love for their pets to stoop that low.

I don't think they do, Wahldo. I remember a case last year where a man killed his best friend for trying to eat his dog. This was in Russia.

News / Poland..wake up to a multicultural world [1059]

I heard about that, HB. There's plenty of material available on Afghanistan on Youtube. The reporter wasn't allowed into the stadium but a young boy told him what they were doing.

There's also plenty of the repair work that troops are doing, winning the hearts and minds of local Afghans.

No, I don't think they care. They have different standards, that's clear. The Japanese eat horse as a delicacy. They call it basashi and it's most popular on Kyushu.

I hope everyone signed that petition that was going round. The one to stop dogs being used as shark bait. I thought it was a hoax but it appears to be true. I have loved dogs for many years and hate the thought of people abusing them in that way. Pure cruelty and barbaric behaviour. I expect low-lifes like the Taliban to do that. Many Afghans use big dogs to fight. Bellends!

Poland is far beyond their level. I was surprised to see that it is in America but the cops there are right on top of it. Look hard enough and you will find it in many countries. There are evil sods everywhere.

Euratom and the EC each have their distinct legal personality. At present, they have the common foreign and security policy (CFSP), coupled with police and judicial cooperation. They can freely act in concert with Interpol.

Agreements can still be concluded through the Council of the European Union but it still stands on a shaky footing.

True that, Miranda. Still, they have enough rice to feed the masses. Chinese cuisine places a heavy emphasis on vegetables which are quite cheap. I guess they wanted to shake it up a little bit.

Quite right! This could descend into an argument into, well, you eat chicken so why not dog? I hope it doesn't.

You have to ask yourself why many balk at the thought of eating dog and monkey.

Yeah, that was nicely done. I gather that they are keen on monkeys' brains. The Koreans are more keen on dog.

I hope Poland doesn't have to wake up to that. At least letting them stray isn't as bad.

Life / 800 thousand Polish women are victims of domestic abuse yearly [180]

Female domestic violence is a social reality in Scotland. I imagine that it happens in Poland but to a far lesser extent. You know, the disgruntled old hag beating on her mousy little husband.

Still, this is an unfortunate state of affairs!
