UK, Ireland / Scotland encouraging immigration. [90]

The point is to encourage immigrants here who want to become citizens. What will happen when anyone wants a pension in the future? Pensions are private things nowadays, if you haven't got one you're foolish.

Why would you want to do that? Explain to me why it is good thing?

Scotland's birth rate isn't tremendously high either, hence why we need to boost our population.

Why and what benefits will it bring?

dtaylor5632

Sure sure, not wanting to be a second class citizen in your own nation equates to terrorism. You can claim the moral high ground all you want, at the end of the day you are still a British subject.

Apart from needing to increase our population we're doing alright mostly.

Come here genius, what happens when the immigrants age and need pensions? Who is going to pay for that? More immigrants? Eastern Europe has a dangerously low birth rate, what will they do?

Robbing Peter to pay Paul, if you ask me.

Temporary my left one. It has been hundreds of years, and not one shot fired in anger.

That is not really a good statistic to use, the EU is in the grips of a recession.

Scotland for the Scottish!

Jesus christ. The author wants more immigrants even though Scotland has mass unemployment? He should be up for treason.

UK, Ireland / Polish view on Ireland. [32]

Last night I had the misfortune of attending the U2 gig in Croke Park. Good night, except for the music. Three hours of Bono, the serial tax dodger, lecturing us about our obligation to the 3rd world and other tripe. God, I hate that man.

Anyway, ninety per cent of the audience where clearly foreigners. This filled me with pride, evidence that the Irish people are fed up with this pretentious little man. After talking to a few people attending the gig, I found their opinions on Ireland quite funny and interesting. Some Croatians asked me about the war in Ireland. :)

So foreigners, what is your view on Ireland?

Life / I'm an American who lived in Poland for 6 years. I'm not welcome anymore. [169]

Of course, America has never treated other nationals like they were criminals.

The Irish nation and its people owe the Americans a great deal. When we where eating grass and starving it was America who accepted and fed our people. Lest we forget. We should have no border controls with America as a token of our eternal gratitude. I welcome any American into my nation and would treat them as my guests.

Instead, we allow impoverished eastern europeans saunter through Dublin airport, while genuine tourists are hassled and harried. We owe these eastern european countries nada, zilch, fook all.

Life / I'm an American who lived in Poland for 6 years. I'm not welcome anymore. [169]

LAST Friday three clean-cut young American backpackers arrived at Dublin airport from Texas. They were setting out on the first international leg of a yearlong trip around Europe.

However, they were ordered to return to US by an immigration official at the airport. "She treated us like we were criminals," Colin Zwirko, 21, said later.

Yet Ireland allows impoverished eastern europeans and 3rd worlders saunter through Dublin airport. Madness.

UK, Ireland / Irish Primary schools to teach Polish [223]

To RN
What do you think about Irish swamping(bit harsh) Uk and USA,in your case Spain(lots of translation provided to Irish geriatric in Spain

Show me evidence of hundreds of thousands of Irish currently swamping the UK, America, or Spain, raghead.

Show me evidence of the local school children being forced to learn the Irish language, raghead.

Then you will have a point, raghead.

Seanus

Yes, due to the large number of Polish children in Irish schools. At the expense of the Irish taxpayer. Not only will we have to pay to teach them English, now we will have to pay to teach them Polish.

Email them yourself.

Ive mentioned the other languages ten time in this thread already. German, French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese.

If there was only a small number of Poles here, do you really think this idea would even be entertained? Would it fook.

But there are more beneficial up and coming languages other than Polish that the children could learn instead.

Honestly, do you think these changes would be implemented if it where not for the large Polish presence in Ireland?

I have no kids, that I know of. I have younger family members and they will not be learning Polski. They will be learning Irish and English. Whatever other languages they will learn will be up to them.

There is more inconsistency here, namely Magdalena is a female name while our poster seem to be a male. But enough about him. RN, could you guide me where exactly does it say that this change in the curiculum was imposed by polish lobby? Or do you know that from some other source?

Check their website. Its how things get done in Ireland, group lobbies relevant government agencies, things get changed.

Do you honestly believe the government acted alone? That they where not lobbied to introduce Polish lessons in class? Come on......

So what? Dev choose a catholic cross. Big swinging mickey.

I fail to see what point Del Boy is trying to make. Dev was born an Irish citizen, his mother was Irish. Connolly was born to Irish parents, therefore he was an Irish citizen.

As the Poles plan to settle in Ireland. In large numbers, they care not a jot about our tradition and cultures. Yet, we pander to theirs. Lunacy.

As China is a growing economy, it would be more beneficial for Irish children to learn Chinese than Polish. Id rather they learned Irish and English in school as standard. Let their parents choose if they learn any additional language.

Cut down on your salt intake mate, it is a killer. Seriously, if you have good food in front of you, you dont need much salt. Bad meat needs spice.

You a fan of mustard, my ma(rip) hated mustard, so I did also.... what recipe would you recommend? Its like a phobia with me now?

My Grandpa grows all his own veg, at my mum's house we would love to, but the mixture of small garden and big dog makes it difficult. But my Grandparents are not far off :) As for advice, lots of hard work will lead to better veg, double dig your garden and plant carefully in rows. Weed regularly and look after the place. It's simple enough, but tough!

I have four boxer dogs, the cunts ruined my potential strawberries. Still, seems like a nice old recipe. Normally I drink lots of water with a meal, unless it is a special occasion, then I drink vino. But with comfort food, only milk goes with it.

In the UK you lot drink beer with your meal, how the fook?

Cardno85

Now that is comfort food. Real rainy day stuff. Similar to sheperds pie/cottage pie, no?

Washed down with a large glass of milk and a decent cup of tay?

Do your family grow your own carrots(veg)? Any advice for us?
