Austrians???

Excuse me but they are purely of german stock...like most Swiss to btw...
Those borders are entirely political!

(We Prussians never liked those Berg-Germanen anyway...:)

>>"Hehe.. Thank you. And although the place where I live 100 years ago was German I'm definitely Polish. :)"<<

Exactly...the goverment who rules you doesn't decide about your heritage.
Just because someone lives/lived in a territory which changed hands often over the time doesn't make him change his heritage too....that is stupid!

PS: Didn't took Austria Krakau once?

He was born in Thorn and died in Frauenburg...he was born into a german family and spoke and wrote german...facts!

That you Poles now want to claim him is not so surprising...why not Schopenhauer too?

Torun even was called once Thorn...it was German too!

He didn't fight because of belonging to the Poles but for preferrend political reasons!
You say more or less his political stance decides about his heritage...crap!

PS: Arthur Schopenhauer from Danzig and Immanuel Kant from Königsberg lived in what is now polish or russian...they were still Germans!

Yes they may have, but they scurried out like dirty rats jumping from a sinking ship

'snicker*

I dunno...just how long scurried the Polacks as the mighty Wehrmacht came visiting? 3 Weeks?
And you needed the whole world to say good bye again...and the help of your good friends , the Russians...who didn't want to leave for decades either...LOL

Sorbs live in german territory...doesn't make them of german stock!

You can't convert to another heritage....regardless the politic environment of your time!

But hey....since even athlets who are naturalised aussies and swim for the aussie team get noted as polish achievements then one should not wonder...

I better not start with achievments all over the world who have german roots even if the passport has changed...

...what a joke!

Oh Pat...how long will you use Hitler as apology for continually underachieve?
It seems always someone else to be who opresses the poor Poles...if it is not Germany then it's Russia or both...

Poor victimized Poles!

(And yes Grandpa and Granduncles marched through Poland...two times! LOL)

Yeah....Germans shake in their boots whenever they think of Poland!

:)

PS: Most people when asked about their most famous people would list world wide renowned scientists, inventors, poets....not third class sportsmen who nobody outside knows (and who often also start for foreign countries)...:)

So pathetic!

My grandma told me how all those germans in Silesia always knew who was german and who was polish! No mingling, no guessing!

And you wonder why people call Poles thieves....

Klose is an ex-Silesian like my family is and Kopernikus stems from a german family and spoke german, not polish....but hey...who cares...you decide they are polish then they are polish basta!

You have so few famous people with achievements compared to your neighbours you have to grasp at straws to declare them somehow polish...that is so disgusting...so polish!

You are of Teutons, mix of native Slavs and Semitic Romans. But, that`s not worse in you. Problem is that you are spiritual abomination and generator of delusions, from old Slavs,

And still only 27.000 against your 39.000...you can't have it both ways! :)

Okay...why else should Germans look up to Poles???
You MUST have other examples of your "greatness", don't you?

Wanna compare the achievements and famous people of our both nations??? Yes???

Wanna see which of our nations is the pathetic one, yes???

LOL
Germany is called the land of the Poet's and Writers, we are till now famous for our inventions, feared warriors, we MADE the western civilization!

"And that last second goal in World Cup was allllllll luck. No way in hell that would have happened twice. Have to say that was the most exciting game of my life though."

Oooooh yeeeees! WHAT A F*****g GAME!
As the goal came you could hear the roar through whole Germany! What a time!!!

For most Germans the best game was the one against Argentina tough...with the shoot out...WOW!

The worst was that against the Italians! Boah...hate those Spaghetties!!!!:)

"Germany never could eliminate Poland from the map"

Do I have that wrong? Isn't that exactly what happened to Poland for some centuries???

What's with the partititions? And didn't you get fed to Prussia, Austria and Russia???
Didn' you need the help of the victors of WWI to get your country back?
And didn't you need the help of lot's of other armies to get freed from the Germans only to get "watched over" by the Soviets???

Some winners are you....:)

Maty,

If...there was a "Drang nach Westen" first which made the germanic tribes conquering whole Europe from the caspian sea to Spain and Italy and even northern africa in the end.

During the Völkerwanderung the tribes moved south into roman empire territory and left eastern europe empty. Slaves settled in those now empty territories.
Germanics came back and the fight started (the short version).

I just posted the history parts to counter the bullsch*t from Crow that Germanics and Slave are relatives in a way and that Slavs were the natives of Europe, they aren't!

ANIELKA! :)

Oooookaaaay....your questions....wait.....*licks finger.....*skims through posts*....ah...here...

"Just here... Now you know how Bor-Komorowski felt- "

Bor-who? :(

"I'm interested, was Warszawa worth it? General Heinz Guderian expressed great respect for the resistance of the Poles in 1939 with a 15-20% loss of his tanks and 50,000 out of the 300,000 North Western 19th Tank Corps dead. Poles sustained 60,000 dead. Chopin requested his friend Mozart's Requiem be played at his funeral, his wishes were respected.

No hate in these examples, simple respect, admiration on both sides."

He was a nice guy...(but a bit prone to temper tantrums)...but an okay guy...

"The goggles I can deal with - it was the helmet that got me, good to see you've lost it."

Wha?
Which helmet?
Goggles???

"Come, dance the Krakowiak, the Mazur, lift your girl in the air, stamp your knee high boots, watch her twirl just out of your reach, bewitched by almond blue Polish eyes- then come back and express your opinion of us."

...and you wonder why I didn't answer....:)
