1939: the road to tyranny. Is it happening again?

In September 1939 Poland as a nation suffered more than any other nation from the rise of tyranny. They suffered at the hands of two tyrants, Stalin/Hitler. All tyrants who rose to power throughout the 20th century followed 10 steps that became a "blueprint to dictatorship." These "dictatorships" used the rule of law "to end democracy."

Is it happening again? This film is 40 mins long but well worth watching!!

Your thoughts please!

Hairball, you are so obsessed with this idea of "End of America"! How can you live your life successfully if you have only one thought in your head, how can you be productive at all? And, what's even worst is that you don't even live in the U.S. (I think a Pole living in GB, right?)

So why would you even care?

Dice, what's in that video is really happening in your country....and mine! I'm English, I live in Poland with my Polish wife! Your government, like mine, has introduced new powers that restrict your and my freedoms. In the UK you can be held as a "terror suspect" for 28 days without being charged. They want to increase that to 42 days. Now the phrase "terror suspect" is quite vague and can be twisted to cover just about any senario you like. In your country they ship Canadians off to Siria to be tortured, then when they find out they were torturing the wrong person, they shrug their shoulders and say "whatever, he's on the list."

The parallels between what happened in Germany throughout the 1930's and whats happening in the USA/UK now is almost identical.

i remember living in germany in 2003.

I rented a room in this wonderful giant house owned by a german architect. He was a hard-working, salt of the earth type guy.

I remember him telling me over and over that he had experienced very similar things in Germany as a boy as to what was happening in U.S. He told me again and again how similar the whole thing was/is. I didn't have the sense at the time to believe him but many of the older Germans in the area spotted that s*** waaaaay before most other people. And they spotted the similarities because they were accutely aware of them. She's saying the same thing that old German guy was saying. I'm inclined to agree with them at this stage in the game.

older Germans

Hitler used the same tactics to scare ordinary Germans....(because they weren't all Nazi's)....into giving up their civil rights as The Neo Cons have used in America.

While it's true that Americans have little real idea about what's going on in their own country, neither does anybody else.

Ask any Brit who doesn't read Private Eye about what's truly going on in Britain and you quickly realise how utterly ignorant they are.

But we are not heading down the road of dictatorship. If anything, the degree of manipulation that's always been there is becoming more apparent for those who are interested in looking for it.

Neo Cons are so passe, by the way.

I can quite believe it. I do not like the direction Bush's America has been heading.

Some libertarian Americans consider Zbigniew Brzeziński to be a neocon too.
Opinions?

and so should anybody with a decent knowledge of history but it's obvious that most aren't aware.

Hardly!

- He loudly opposes a Zionists rulling america, that is his major "disadvantage" eliminating him from american political life.

How on earth can you compare it to 30s germany? I mean, its not as though peoples of one specific religion are constantly in the media being demonised, there arent huge military parades with giant flags behind the nations leader, the world doesnt seem to be economicaly unstable.....oh,wait,er,uhm...oops,i'll get me gas mask.

specific religion are constantly in the media being demonised,

The Muslims you are implying? They aren't being demonized in America. Do you know who Playboy gave their esteemed interview to this month? Fareed Zakaria. He's very Muslim and very highly regarded here.

Are things a little rocky in the US right now? Definitely. Are we going to start torching Mosques.. nahh KKK stunts are passe and are usually relegated to the Deep South.

Ms. Wolf is trying to do what lots of authors do -- sell books. Bush is a clown sure, but also a cash cow for people like her. I find it ironic she's not packing up for Israel given the horrific impending doom she's predicting for the US.
