Oh my dear, of course it was Pole, that's why so many Poles are living there (simply they are descendants of first Poles, landed on the americans sea shores), and sure enough US national flag is bearing all those red and white lines because of that discovery.
Polands role is found here as they were a big part of freedom and structuring of The United States of America.
