Wieczny odpoczynek racz jej dać Panie,
A światłość wiekuista niechaj jej świeci na wieki wieków
Niech odpoczywa w pokoju wiecznym.

Amen

Sendlerowa is sometimes referred to as Poland's Schindler but I think that underestimates her a bit. Schindler used his influence and eventually money to save who he could but Sendlerowa achieved what she did at constant risk to her life and never had any ulterior motives. Also Schindler never had to survive a Nazi torture.

In time I think Sendlerowa will be better known and become the best known Pole associated with WW2.

RIP

Just a question : why do we see both Sendler and Sendlerowa ?.. Her real name is Sendler, isn't it ?...

after mariage she was Sender - Sendlerowa (Polish garmar) , before Krzyżanowska.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irena_Sendler

Irena Sendler (in Polish also: Irena Sendlerowa; de domo Krzyżanowska; February 15, 1910 - May 12, 2008)[1] was a Polish social worker. During World War II she was an activist in the Polish Underground and the Żegota Polish anti-Holocaust resistance in Warsaw. She helped save 2,500 Jewish children from the Warsaw Ghetto by providing them with false documents and sheltering them in individual and group children's homes outside the Ghetto.

Adam Eastern an English journalist who lives in Poland told me all about this lady. He got lots of her storey directly from her and he said that she scoffed at what Schindler did. Unfortunatly her children wouldnt let him publish her storey. It's a real shame because she was a real Polish hero who risked her own life time after time for no financial reward.

RIP

I've read about her. Credit where credit is due!! Spielberg succeeded in making Schindler's List a hit but this woman was just as instrumental in her own way. Saving innocent people is almost always a noble cause.

Her heroism has been played down by the Jewish circles for dacades. I guess it doesn't fit the Polish antisemite propaganda. On the other hand, the story of the Nazi Schindler has been played up to ridiculous proportions. Go figure.
