Hi, My great grandfather came to New Zealand in 1876, from Pojolton,Subkau, Poland west Prussia. He was married to Barbara Zella in 1874 at the catholic church in Subkau.

His father was Ignatius Zimmermann, and he was a shop tailor, His mother was Juliana
Cassatioski. His Grandfather was Milodam Zimmermann.

Three of his brothers came to New Zealand on the same ship, one was Michael Zimmermann born 1852, Statgard Poland.
The other two brothers (we don`t have their names) Left New Zealand shortly after arriving and went to the USA.

There are other family members that either stayed in Poland in 1896, or may have got on boats that took them to other countries.
To date we have been unable to find this link.

If you have any info that might help I would appreciate it
thanks

My godmother's name was Zimmerman. But she and her family came to the Uk after WW2, from Poland via Siberia/Middle East. She lived in the Kresy area of Poland. Bit tenious but happy to tell you more, if it may be a link to the branch you are researching...

I found a guy by the name Edward Zimmermann. He is a historian and writes books about the region you are interested in. He published few books at this publisher:

Click on "Kontakt" for contact info. You can send a message from this page as well. Maybe they will help you to get in touch with him.

Greetings,

I am having some issues with the recommended web site for contact to Edward Zimmermann. Due to only speaking english I am stuck with most of the navigation needed to ask questions. Any ideas?

Not of much help to you and something you probably know already... but....perhaps the most famous Zimmermann's ( Bob Dylan ) family came from Odessa.

I didn`t know about the town that Bob Dylan`s family came from, I did know that he is a Zimmermann.
I think he also has Jewish in his family. He has the same big nose that our family has been blessed with (I was told by my father that we have a Jewish nose)
