I am looking for information on my Skrzynski Family. My mom grandfather John and his brother Jacob Skrzynski came to Chicago from Gorka Poland in the early 1900's and settled in Chicago. John was born 1880. Jacob was born 1885. They had 2 other brother Peter and Martain who stayed back in Poland. Their parent where Michael Skrzynski and Margaret Drabik. Also Michael Skrzynski was suppose to be a Mayor of some town in Poland. If anyone has information on this family please email me.
It might not be the answer you're looking for, but my last name is Skrzynski as well.
My Grand Father used to be a Polish soldier (named P Skrzynski) during WWII. He got captured and spent time working on a German farm, where he met and married his wife Matka.
He then came to France and worked in the mines where he died of a lung cancer. His only son was my dad who became an international insurance businessman: Skrzynski (you can find his name on google).
And I am my dad's son, Skrzynski.
I don't think I have much link with you, but I heard a story about one Skrzynski who had to escape Poland when the communist regime came and fled somewhere to Canada (or maybe USA, and that could be the man you're looking for).
Anytime you feel there may be a potential for a family relationship consider having a Y-DNA test done (for guys only). This can be used to confirm familial ties.
I recommend Family Tree DNA - ftdna.com. They have a Polish Project where you can get a discount. I've been working on finding potential lost realtives using their testing.
I have the same name. My family is from Zwierzyniec, Szczebrzeszyn area. My gradfather name was Stanislaw (born in 1916) and my great-grandfather was Jan. I'm looking for my grand father's brother who escaped from Poland in the late 1940's to Canada. Any info will be highly appreciated,
If interested in the meaning and derivation of the Skrzyński surname, how many people share, where they live and whether a coat of arms goes with it (in fact there was more than one noble line of the Skrzyński clan!), please contact: research60@
