Looking for sister that was put up for adoption through Catholic Charities in the 70's.
She would be in her 20's, brought up in Chicago. Her biological Fathers name was Shawn Siedlecki.

OK. I thought that you ment his brother. Commies would probably have finished him off If he had came back after serving on the western side.

[Moved from]: Shedleski (Siedlecki) - any suggestion on the origin of my last name?

My family left Poland around 1890. Any suggestion on the orgin of my last name?
I have spoken to a few Poles in the last few years and one mentioned that not only was the name fairly common but he actually knew someone with the Polish spelling of "John Shedleski". It has been suggested that the name may be a referance to the town of "Siedlce"

Regards John

John Shedleski

There would be no such spelling in Polish.
The possibilities I'm aware of are:
Jan Siedlewski
Jan Siedleski

In statistical terms, the most likely is Siedlecki, a toponymic surname used by more than 7,700 people in Poland. It means 'the bloke from the town fo Siedlce'. There are only 187 Siedlewskis and only one Siedleski.

Have you tried variants of surname:

Siedlecky
Siedlicki
Siedlicky
Ziedlecki
Ziedlecky
Ziedlicki
Ziedlicky

You might want to try these variants with the Polish accents Ś, Ż.

Best Regards,
