Hi, I'm working on tracking down my Polish ancestors, and I have a Rzeszow question for anyone who can help me.
My great-grandfather, Albert Mikula, and his brother came over from Poland around 1905 and settled in Wisconsin. My great-aunt, who knows a lot of the family history, said that he was born in Pobitna. She said that it was a small village that was absorbed into Rzeszow over time as the city grew (perhaps in the early 1900's?). Does anyone know what section of Rzeszow city this is? I've had no luck when doing searches online.
Also, I have the names of Albert's parents, so I'm hopeful that when I go to Poland in a couple weeks, I can research farther back. The Mikula's lived in Pobitna and owned land there for over 300 years. Where would I go to do further geneology research? Would I check a church in Rzeszow (if it wasn't destroyed in the war?) or is there a better place to check, such as a website?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
