FISZ 24 | 2,116 20 Mar 2007 / #6Erik GuayWhere are you from Local Church?I meant the local church near kielce
OP Iremal 20 Mar 2007 / #7Yes Father still has much land around Jedrzejow Many cousins there and around Kielce Mother a MYSTERY last name seems a mix with my grandfather a Greek Orthodos Priest killed by Cossacks in the small town where they lived when my Mother was 4 years old More sure with my Father Maludzinski married Jablonska in town of JedrezejowThanks for asking I have no idea about the churches around Kielce If you are into sports You may know my cousin and niece for downhill skiing in Poland
Koach 16 | 128 20 Mar 2007 / #8The church might have records for their priests. You might be able to learn about your grandfather from there. Do you know the name and/or address of it?
Wroclaw 44 | 5,384 20 Mar 2007 / #9Iremal,If you look at the Genealogy threads you will see that they are not filled with cr*p about other subjects. If you want help. Stay on topic.
OP Iremal 20 Mar 2007 / #11KOACH How can I obtain records from here???? I have last namesKoach My grandfather on my Mother's side WAS a Greek orthodox priest Big Mystery as my Mother was a teacher in Poland and was 100% Roman CatholicWROCLAW Are you still there You seem to be the most helpful
Koach 16 | 128 20 Mar 2007 / #12I knew that. I meant to say records for priests might be more extensive than for the villagers. Perhaps some kind of biographical info could be obtained on him. I hear different opinions about obtaining records. Some say to write with a donation; others say to call the church.
OP Iremal 20 Mar 2007 / #13WROCLAW On topicKoach It seems that I , born and raised in Canada , who taught myself the Polish language with the help of an Uncle in the last 2 years, who has 3 brothers who cannot speak a word, is the only person interested in the heitage It is unfortunate that most records were lost in the War If I ever come to Poland, I hope I will be able to visit some churches and those "secretive people" and gain lost information
Koach 16 | 128 20 Mar 2007 / #14If you feel comfortable, what are some of your surnames in your family?
OP Iremal 20 Mar 2007 / #15Koach I just looked at the topics of your latest discussions Are you interested in the Polish Ukranian connection (there are so many connections) If so, my Mother's last name before marriage was Iwankiewicz with a Greek Orthodox priest father ==I think she was a mix but, when I asked her, she got VERY angry Given the fact that there were no borders for 300 years before the end of the First World War ,of course , there would be a mix with all the countries surrounding PolandKoach On my Mothers side I know only the last name Iwankiewicz On my Father's side My own Last name Maludzinska grandfather Maludzinski married grandmother Jablonska
Koach 16 | 128 20 Mar 2007 / #16I see. I don't see a connection with any of my surnames. Can you write to your cousins? Perhaps they could provide insight or visit the church. There are people on these boards who can do translations.
OP Iremal 20 Mar 2007 / #17Koach Are you there????? I will not be on here again First time for me and my time is lacking I stumbled on this site When I sign off , I probably won't be able to find it again This computer is not my forte I have gifts in other areas
Koach 16 | 128 20 Mar 2007 / #18I'm here. Can you write down the link to this forum on a piece of paper?
OP Iremal 20 Mar 2007 / #19Yes, I have a connection with a cousin in Poland on my Mother's side. None are interested in background. They are grateful to survive. They have none of my own passion for all things historical including heritage. It seems that they want to forgetWill adding to favorites work??
Koach 16 | 128 20 Mar 2007 / #21Do you have any records in your possession? Old photo albums or boxes might reveal some information.
Koach 16 | 128 20 Mar 2007 / #23Do you have old photo albums or boxes? They might have helpful info. I found quite a bit through that.
OP Iremal 20 Mar 2007 / #24I have records from my Father He was a Pilot in the Polish Air Force and trained close to Toronto in 1940 I have a book of his training missions and the names of the Pilots and Navigators for the Training Missions I also have his documents from school in Poland while being in "Teacher's" school with all his grades The book from the Air Force have names from all countriesMiranda I wish I knew the Polish word for "SKANK" For a person to interject into another's conversation , especially you, who, I am sure , is not interested in anything but the most baser things is very rude. I say this only because you have done nothing but eavesdrop
Koach 16 | 128 20 Mar 2007 / #25Do you have obituaries for any relatives who died? You might be able to find names of long-lost relatives who might be helpful.
OP Iremal 20 Mar 2007 / #26You seem to know alot Perhaps you have relatives here More than me My father was 1 of 9 children He was the only one here in Canada and he did not say much He also did not return to Poland after the war My Mother was 1 of 4 and , after he found her in Siberia in 1948 with the help of the Red Cross , she came to Canads ==returned to Poland about 4 times to visit Small family here Big Family there I don't want to sound pessimistic But both said little after the war about Poland So I am at a disadvantage I have tried the site for Geneology and gave up after no success This is the first time I tried again in 2 years
Koach 16 | 128 20 Mar 2007 / #27I'm going to have to go. I would like to be able to help you. I believe that there was an online phone directory for Poland. You need the name of the town. You might uncover cousins. Sadly, I don't know the link. One of the members here might know what I mean. Well, good luck with all your research.
Tarzana8 3 | 27 8 Apr 2007 / #29TryMasstimes.orgType in the name of the city in Poland and you will get a listing of their churches.God bless you for having such an urge to find out about ancestors.:)Please let me know if that website worked for you?:) :)
