Hi

I have posted this elsewhere but I think I should of started a post myself, sorry I am not familiar with forums.

I am looking for the following small town:

KSZECOTY OR KSZECTY

This is where my grandmother was born and she has asked me to try and trace her sister.

I have very little information at this stage - if anyone has heard of this place, please post a message, we would be very greatful.

Fingers crossed!

Hi, would the name that you are looking for be Szczecin? as I am looking for info from that area, used to be Stettin ,Germany, up untill 1945 when it became part of Poland, I have seen postcard views of this place, it's very beautiful. best of luck Junelilian.

Szczecin is a large city and one of the largest if not the largest shipyard on the Baltic sea.

The -ty in the name indicates that what she means is a small village.

Thank you for the replies so far,

I have spoken to my grandmother today and from what I can make out from the information she seams to think that the country will now belong to Russia under another name. So I guess I will just have to see if anyone has heard of it.

It was dreadful to hear her stories today, I dont think I ever realised what she had been though before. She also had a brother who was in the army and he was never seen again.

The surnames of the people I am looking for are: Lonski, Crnawska and Knapik - but I imagine they are all common polish names.
