Last name LOWISZ

2 very unrealated things:

A) Is the last name LOWISZ very common in Poland? It is my last name and my grandparents are immigrants directly from the homeland.

B) What do Polish people look like? I am having a debate with my boyfriend that Polish people are fair-skinned. I am 50%, as is he, but I am also 50% Italian. He is pretty white, and I'm medium-olived toned. My father, and Polish relatives are all pasty individuals. His family is medium- toned.
