repost: still searching for info. on Kukuła surname

Anyone from Wadowice. I am seeking for any information on the Kukuła surname, such as meaning, origin etc. I am trying to make a family tree. I still have relatives there but lost touch with them and I don't speak Polish. I have a neice Joanna Kukuła from Bielsko Biała (I hope the spelling is correct), she is in her early to mid thirties. My fathers name was Piotr, born in 1922 and he had a brother Jozef. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks - Mike.

Your surname could derive from "kukułka, and "Kukułka" means "cuckoo".

My Grandfather's name was Jozef Kukuła from Częstochowa and he died in consentration camp in Sibera. My Grand mother's name was Cecylia Kukuła and she too died not long after my grandfather in the concentration camp.

What a coincidence. My grandfather was Józef Kukuła from Częstochowa, grandmother Cecylia nee Pilarska from Praszka. Both deported to USSR 1940 and died there 1941/42

Just for interest in Duns Scotland there is a memorial to Polish soldiers from the 1st & 2nd Armoured Division who had fallen in battle. One of the listed is a W. Kukulka
