My grandfather came from Czechocinek, and I suspect his surname was different when he lived in Poland. I can't find ANYTHING on Kintop.

Are there any suggestions for an alternate spelling??

There are 88 Kintops residing in Poland, 26 of them in Greater Warsaw and vicinity. Its original form was probably Kinntopf combining German/Yiddish Kinn (chin) with Topf (cookpot).

My Kintop ancestors from Brandenberg/Pommern Americanized Kintop during WW I from
Koentopf. (They also spelled it at Koentopp as well.) The area they came from is
part of Poland today.

The original German name was probably spelt Köntopf (ö is often spelt oe when the letter ö is not available). Meaning obscure.
