I am trying to do a Family Tree... I don't have anyone in the family to ask. Most are past away and the ones that are alive, never cared to know.

I took a picture today of my Great Grandmother's grave site and there are 2 other head stones right next to it, Thinking it was my great grandmothers parents? But I don't know what it says. I am inserting a picture.

I am assuming under the name is the town they died? I have no idea. Please don't make fun of me..lol. Is there a way to find information on ancestors from Poland? I'm assuming on the head stone that they were from wrzesnia? would that help for my search? Any information for my serach would be Greatly appreciated!!

Let me know what the headstone says under their names?
I looked on ancestors dot come web site and from what I found, their names were Nick and Pauline. but on the headstone it's Appolonia and Mikolaj. I'm confused. PLEASE HELP.

THANK YOU!!!!!

sorry I tried uploading a picture but didn't work.

the headstone says...

UR. 2 WRZESNIA 1852
UM. 22 MARCA 1939

UR. 2 WRZESNIA
UM. 13 PAZOZIERNIKA 1935

not gonna make fun of you, but i don't think it's very commom to put a deceased person's address on their headstone lol...

UR. 2 WRZEŚNIA 1852
UM. 22 MARCA 1939

born 2nd September 1852
died 22nd March 1939

UR. 2 WRZESNIA
UM. 13 PA-DZIERNIKA 1935

born 2nd September
died 13 October 1935

ur. is a short for urodzony(urodzona if it's a female) which means born

um. is a short for umarł (umarła if female) which means died. you may also come accross zm. which i think is sligthly more commom, means exactly the same and is a short for zmarł (zmarła)

Nick and Pauline and Mikołaj i Apolonia

Nick isn't it short for Nicolas?
and Nicolas in Polish language will be Mikołaj

as to

Pauline it may be short in Polish for more official name Apolonia. ( when sound Poline shortens to Pola)
Another version of Apolonia short in Polisha would be Pola. (the famous Pola Negri, an film actress who was Apolonia Chałupiec)

I hope it answers your questions
