I have been trying to trace my family history and I am looking for help. I don't know much about my heritage because it was never spoken about while I was growing up. What I do know is my father is 100% Polish. His mother and father divorced when he was 3 and remarried. My last name is Wrobel which doesn't seem to be a polish name but I could be wrong. Where can I find information about my name and when my ancestors left Poland? I would appreciate any help. Thanks!
if your surname is Wróbel, then it's a very popular one here, with about 50,000 Polish citizens named Wróbel, it ranked (3 years ago) at 26th place in frequency (no. 1 is Nowak with 200,000 people)
wow, I was surprised to say the least and a bit lifted to know it is a Polish name . After reading the replies, it triggered a memory of my father once telling me that Wrobel meant sparrow. I appreciate the information. Thank you.
