Grandfather's village? (Katowice?)

I was doing some genealogical research and came across a ship's manifest which included my grandfather. It listed his hometown as "Hutowce." Now, I have looked on all kinds of maps (including Polish maps), atlases, and the internet, but I cannot find a town or village by that name. The spelling looks suspicious to me. It may not be correct. It has been suggested that maybe it should be "Katowice," but I always thought my ancestors were in eastern Poland (or, rather, what is today Ukraine). Has anyone heard of this town or village? Any ideas what it could be?

Thanks in advance!!

There is no such a village in Poland. Hutowce does not exist. If you want to now something about your family from Poland, maybe I can help u. I live 60 km from Katowice (very close to Czech Republic). Maybe you know something else about your grandparents? what was their surname? do you have any family living here in Poland? did your grandparents have any siblings?? ask your parents.

maybe the spellling was altered and the "H" should be a "ch" This might not solve the riddle but it may lead to a path.

I dont think so. the name is from the word "huta" and it is spelled with "h", not "ch". but there is a village "chutkowice".

Im not that sure, maybe his grandfather was born in hutowce, and maybe in that times the land belonged to Ukraine.
