DESPERATELY SEEKING POLISH TRAVELLERS ON EMPIRE WINDRUSH

Hello Everybody. I am trying to find Polish people who arrived in the UK aboard the ship The Empire Windrush in 1948. The ship brought 60 Polish women and their children who had been displaced during WWII and were living in Mexico. They were coming to the UK to live. Some of the women and certainly their children were very young at the time and are definitely still alive. If anyone has any information about anyone who was aboard the Empire Windrush who was Polish please contact me. Thank you very much!

Have you looked at the National Archives list of passengers on this historic voyage?

nationalarchives.gov.uk/museum/item.asp?item_id=50

I think only the first page is available on-line. Sorry if you have tried this obvious first step;)

Hi szarlotka, thanks for your reply. Yes, I have the ships's passenger list and have all the names of the Polish travelers (and everyone else). I am trying to make contact with some of those who are still living, in the UK or elsewhere. I thought I'd try here before going on to tracking them in other records, which will be quite difficult since the arrival was over 60 years ago.

I thought as much. Good luck. Is it possible to post a sample of surnames on here to jog people's memories. Some may not know of any connection to the journey but might recognise the names?
