BULINDA / BULANDA

Hello, I am Kelly and im am starting to research my fathers Polish heritage. He died Nov 8th, 2007 so now I kind of have that fire to get going on it. We have an uncommom polish/russian? surname. BULINDA/BULANDA I have been on the Polish website but I do not find a surname that even comes close.

My Bulindas came to America and were once in PA then onto Detroit, MI
My GGG grandfathers name was Martin Bulinda but I do not know if he died in Poland or came to USA. His son was Valentin Bulinda, his son was Walter Bulinda and my fathers name was Ronald Valentine Bulinda.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hoping to find more relatives in the states but even more so in POLAND.
Thanks :)

have you checked the Family History website? (familysearch.org) Try the name Valentin Bulanda. Also, it helps sometimes if you try Joseph as the first name and Mary for female. Many people are recorded that way and not their middle name.

Have you tried the ellis island website (ellisisland.org)

Even if you don't find your grandparents, you might find distant relatives who share your surname.

Hi Kelly,

We need some dates.

Where do you think the family came from... which city ?

You can do a name check at: JewishGen.org

Do a quick check of Polish history at wikipedia. It will help you to understand the changing borders at certain times in your family history.
