Both the Brzeszkiewicz and Brześkiewicz spellings are known in Poland. For more information on the surname's derivation, number of users, geographic distribution and heraldic implications (coat of arms) if any -- please contact: research60@gmail

My paternal grandmother was a Kroll. First name Janina

Merged: Brzeskiewicz and Kroll

I'm looking for any information people can give.
My grandmother Janina Kroll came to the US on the ship Adriattic in Feb of 1901.
She traveled with her mother, Franciska Kroll, Brothers Wladislau and Stanislau. and a sister Midual. My Great granfather Kroll was already in the US, living in Chicago. The family came from Osswa Poland. Also spelled Osawa.

My grandmother, Jania Kroll, married Jacob Brzeskiewicz in Milwaukee Wisconsin, She was 15. Changed her name to Jane. Her oldest son, Eugene Brzeskiewicz (in his 90's) is still alive living in Dallas Texas. My father is Henry Walter Brzeskiewicz, Passed in November 2005

Any info is appreciated

The family came from Osswa Poland. Also spelled Osawa.

Is this town of birth?

The only liating I found for Osawa is in Russia. None for Osswa.

It could be Osova or Ossowa, both with several locations in Poland.

Other possibilities:

jewishgen.org/Communities/LocTown.asp

Do you have the manifest for the family (couldn't find)?

My student was a Zbigniew Kroll, he know lives in Japan. He is an eminent scientist, formerly of the Warsaw Institute.

He contacted me quite recently, I proofread stuff for him for international symposiums. He may be able to shed some light on this.

I'm going to post some new information I found today. Look for it.

Thread attached on merging:
New information on Brzeskiewicz-Kroll-Hapsburg

Jacob Brzeskiewicz was born Jan. 18, 1895 in Poland (Russia) His parents were Andrew Brzeskiewicz and Josephine Plisnik in Poland..Jacob imigrated to the US in 1914 with his Plisnik cousins. Jacob was the only one of his family to come to the US

Jacob is my grandfather. Henry Walter Brzeskiewicz, his son, is my father. I have just found the family tree Henry was working on before he died

Jacob married Janina Kroll May 17, 1917. Janina Kroll
Jania Kroll was born January 12, 1902. She was the 7th child of Andrew and Victoria Kroll in Lodz, Poland. In 1903 a smallpox epidemic raged through Poland and Janina was the only child to survive.

Janina imigrated with her father in 1905 to the US

Of interest is Baron Josef Hapsburg is listed as the Great-grandfather of Janina Kroll. And Proxeda Hapsburg, listed as the Grandmother of Janina

I can find nothing about Proxeda Hapsburg. But have been told she was dis-owned for marring a russian soldier. Whether this is true and can not find information

Can anyone help me put the pieces together?

This doesn't match your immigration story, but this 1910 census sure fits your Kroll family. Wife's 1st name would be Victoria in English. She had 10 children & 3 living in 1910. Daughter Jeanette (Jania?) born abt. 1902 Poland......could put her as the 7th child.

Have you obtained Jacob's naturalization records? Should have his town of birth.

The application to marry should have both Jacob's & Jania's birth towns.

Birth
records for Jania's children should also list her birth town.

In case you don't have this information:

Name: Jacob Brzeskiewicz
Date of Death: 7/5/1951
Date of Burial: 7/9/1951
Age at Death: 56
Marital Status: Married
Last Address: 3847 South Iowa Ave.
Funeral Home: Fennig, T.
Cemetery: Saint Adalbert Cemetery
Location: Section: 4
Block: 60
Row: 1
Lot:
Grave: 22

Name: Jane Daroszewski
Date of Death: 2/18/1978
Date of Burial: 2/21/1978
Age at Death: 76
Marital Status: Widowed
Last Address: 2919 West Parnell
Funeral Home: Sass, Jos.
Cemetery: Saint Adalbert Cemetery
Location: Section: 4
Block: 60

I know that going by another person research is tempting, but you really should do your own research to verify the information. That way, you'll know that you are getting the correct records from Poland.

Thank you for this lead.........I did have the information on my grandmothers death. She had remarried after Jacob died.

Ok...looking at the Census of 1910. Andrew and Wiktorya (Victoria) Janina is she Jeannette? Later Jane?
The names I have of the Kroll children born after they came to America are Monica (Marie) born 1906, Helena Born 1908, Lescadia (Leona) 1914 and Charolotte 1915, who is still alive.

What I need to do is find Andrews parents and Victoria's parents.
I do have the naturalization papers....got to find them though.

Hello I am actually looking into information on the Krol name. My great-grandmother's maiden name was Krol. Her name was Nellie Krol, she came to the US in 1913, she was born in 1900. She came with an American family to be a housekeeper for them in Manchester NH. She had a brother named Walter (Wvaldaju-?) Krol whom was a college professor. His wife was also a college professor. Any information would be appreciated.
